I voted to stayin and my daughters voted for out! And my 17 year old grand daughter said she would have voted out. So they bucked the trend twice as we are in Scotland lol.

Welshwife I doubt very much that Cameron was really an Outer (in fact I find that quite a bizarre statement).
He is visibly shaken and upset by the result - devastated I would say - and had he been a closet brexiter he would not have resigned, he would be seeing us through the process.
Unfortunately I and many others cannot say the same about Corbyn.

As for Johnson, I don't think he expected the vote to go in his favourand I don't think he has a plan at all.

For years politics in Britain has seemed to be reactive rather than pro-active and they have had the umbrella of the EU to make many of the decisions.

My comments were related to the modern day and without sinister connotations.

The EU does base much of its thinking on the writings of Coudenhove.
The EU cannot continue to include more and more countries with poor economies/jobs and sustain them all,unless it evens it out across the whole.
In 2013 Ford ,with help from a multi-million euro loan from the EU,moved manufacturing of their transit vans from the UK to Turkey.
Hundreds of men in Southampton and Dagenham lost their jobs.

I wonder how they voted last week?

Did the women keep their jobs?

If the women did keep their jobs, what difference would that have made to the way the men who lost theirs voted?

The loan was given to the Turkish Ford factory, before the announcement of job losses. Maybe the workers should ask George Osborne why he approved the loan from the European Investment Bank.

I would imagine the bank thought it would make money from the interest payments, which is the only reason any bank lends money.

Jalima I thought he really was a remainer but I read several articles about how he had for years been sceptical of the EU and in the out group - it has been mentioned more than once that he only showed he was on the remain side as he was Prime minister and so should do so. He realised pretty quickly how angry many of the population was and got out before the nasty stuff really hit the fan. I felt sorry for him on Friday - although he did not intend to fight another GE he has probably resigned earlier than he wanted - bet Samantha and the children are glad though!

Did you see Farage in the EU parliament - Tusck had a good go at him.

Ford also shut a Belgian plant - I wonder how the Belgian workers felt? And still feel?


Perhaps history will look back on the EU as a social engineering experiment gone wrong.

Yes, they did and I believe there were more job losses in Belgium than in the UK.

Ford claimed that they could produce vehicles more cheaply in Turkey than in the UK, even with longer supply chains. If that's true (and I have no reason to doubt it) the cost of the vehicles would be less to UK consumers.

That's the same argument the UK used not to back EU proposals to raise tariffs for Chinese steel. They claimed that the users of the steel in the UK would be able to reduce production costs.

I did know that George Osbourne approved the loan .UK have investments in the EIB as I imagine other EU governments do ,but according to the treasury at the time ,he was nothing to do with the decision making.
Think he just signed the cheque.

Just been out for a Calming forest walk and lunch, get back in to relax with a cup of tea, then massive mistake - I put on the news and what am I presented with but Farage acting like an overgrown 15 year old in the EU parliament. God almighty isn't there anyone who can give him a slap? Then we have the UKIP mo Carswell, telling the BBC that we will have this that and the other etc etc etc. So remind me how many UKIP MPs there are? Oh yes him, well bugger off Careswell you might have won the vote but there is another 50% breathing down your neck and we will not let you get away with selling us down the river.

I want a I didn't vote leave t shirt. Someone must be making them. I was scared to wear a t shirt before the referendum but don't give a damn now.
