Have you seen the pi chart issued by HMRC? It clearly shows how little of the UK budget goes to the EU - it is so small it is little wider than a thick pencil line! The smallest outlay by far and the next is foreign aid. Schools and pensions cost about the same as each other - quite a slice - and the NHS is such a huge cost that spending all the EU money on it would make little difference,
The numbers involved in national spending are so huge they are almost incomprehensible and so what sounds like a huge amount to us 'normal' people is in fact very very little in budget terms.
