The EU - we are on the home straight folks!

This is a good summary of Corbyn's speech this morning, and reasons why he asks us to vote to remain, yet will not be seen on a platform with Cameron.
They are basically talking to two very different groups of people.

You would think so Jalima.... But not on here, the comments are all of the ' the other side need their heads looking at' type of comments, because anyone who supports the Leave campaign, in their view is bonkers, ( we may think the same of them) but are too polite to say so.

Jalima, it was the Tory government who said we are all in this together, specifically Cameron, not Corbyn.
There is no reason for Corbyn to agree with Cameron's reasons for staying in. Cameron couldn't care less about workers rights.

You could always stay on the other thread, roses, and not look at this one if your sensibilities are so easily offended.

The thing is, because the Remain voters ( on here) may feel passionate about their case, so equally, do the Leave voters.So implying that they are weird/ ill considered/ racist/set in their ways/ living in the past/ low intellect ( all these things have been either implied or stated openly) is not only the height of rudeness, but smacks of desperation, of having run out of things to say.How about stating your views and leaving it at that?

At what stage do you not post information, because it may point to some trend or other. The poll with the different age groups, showing who is voting IN or OUT - does seem to indicate older people are more OUT than IN (sounds a bit like my teatowel with the rules of cricket)- if that makes them sound set in their ways/stuck in the past ... then ?

Of course, but... Who cares about bananas, I have read nothing on Gransnet about complaints of fruit.We had workers rights before the EU, what else are trade unions for.

Workers' rights before the 1970s were nothing like the rights today.

I'm not implying anything about those who want to leave, apart from when their so-called 'facts' are plainly wrong (which they often are).

Rosesarered, what workers rights before the seventies? Men paid more than women even doing the same job. Little health and safety, no restrictions on the hours a lorry driver could drive

rosesarered many of us are extremely anxious about the effects of an Exit. Please forgive us if we get a teeny bit tetchy. Because I for one am very worried that an Exit will tip us into a recession which could last a long time. It is not as if the UK economy is in robust health at the moment. The last thing people need is more job losses and more austerity because the tax coming into the exchequer falls, as it did in 2010. And of course for older people more austerity means less spent on the
NHS, social care and other things we will all rely on sooner or later if we last long enough.
Virtually every respectable economic forecasting unit, along with virtually every respected economist in the world is predicting at best a short recession if we leave.
Do you think that perhaps, even if leaving the EU is an ideal long-term goal, this is not the right time to take this huge risk.

It sounded as though ab was implying that all people concerned about immigration are racist. I agree that some are, but not the majority. It's the number, not the ethnicity of the people arriving here.

It's so the industry knows what it is buying/selling. Boris actually made up the banana thing when he was writing as the Brussels correspondent for the Telegraph, saying that it was Brussels that stopped them being sold.
