Try to remember that headlines are not the whole of an article. That's why there are so many redtop readers, they go by the headline.

Well I am a foreigner (as so many of you like to remind me often ;) ) - and English is not my MT- but I find Owen Jones so easy to understand- he speaks really fast, but his thoughts are so well organised and put together and he manages to pack so much in a minute or 2.

Frank Field on the other hand seemed to lose the train of thought and couldn't find suitable ends to his sentences- until Dimbleby tactfully helped him along. It was embarrassing.

No rosesarered I am struggling to understand how you could not understand a young man who spoke so well. Sometimes accents do affect someone's understanding. I am pleased others understood him, I certainly did.

I certainly hope some will click on the link and listen to his brilliant speech - about our NHS and other institution, energy, transport, being undermined and privatised by our own Govt, and not the EU. And I'd be very surprised if anyone could say, even if they disagree with what he is saying, that it is not very well delivered, coherent and very easy to understand. Bravo.

There is a shortage of housing in the south east because the economy is growing rapidly there - London, as it has often done, is sucking in more workers, and the powers that be are not doing anything like enough about housing the workforce. Where the workers come from is not the cause of the problem.

There are indeed many parts of the country where there is no shortage of housing, and where houses even sit on the market for years on end- where mining, ship building, steel or manufacturing has disappeared- without the EU being the reason/s.

And of course many immigrants are vastly and shamefully exploited in many areas with dreadful accomodation at massive prices, by unscrupulous landlords (not all of them British of course).

Again, dozens of articles in the press about this exploitation. Including this one from the Guardian last June:

Newham council describes property, which had seven people living in a windowless basement, as one of worst examples of illegal overcrowding'

That does not mean that the foreign nationals are taking British houses either. The foreign nationals I know are all living with British nationals, so no extra houses needed for them.

Annie What Hamilton means is: because of the demand on housing by immigrants, Rackman (you remember him) type landlords are pushing up the rents which is making it a nightmare for people to find a decent place to live at a realistic rent.

This is such a shame. I think as a country we have benefited from an influx of foreign students.

As I've said previously, it's not just EU students; it's students from all other countries who are just not applying to come here any more. At least there will not need to be an increase in the number of universities.

Yes, all the 'universities' that were a room over a shop in Manchester have hopefully gone now.
