They are engaged!!! When I first read it I thought it was a joke!!! but apparently it's true!!!!! Weird isn't it? Can't think of a more unlikely couple (but I'm sure you lot can!)

I remember going to a wedding years ago where there were three mothers - the groom's mum, the bride's mum and the bride's ex-mother-in-law.
The bride said she loved her ex-MIL.
The ex-MIL told us that she loved her ex-DIL and that she was well rid of her son!

Even Kim Kardashian is often in flat shoes these days (in case you have not heard of her she is a complete nonentity, from a family of other untalented, unremarkable nonentities, which a certain British Newspaper (that I look at online for the puzzle pages) seems to feel obliged (or is paid) to print pictures of every day!

Mrs Beckham in flat shoes, eh? That's nearly as funny as her hubby and the jump leads. grin

When Mr P and I got married, ds2 (from my previous marriage) was a witness and sort of gave me away. I don't doubt that he loved his father, but completely understood why exdh & I had parted, and had no problem with Mr P. I did spend a year on my own before we even met.

NanKate

Bill looked a wreck in the 80's too. I take hope from that memory.

After all they probably still have some love left for their other parent.
Probably Jerry and Mick's daughters have come to terms with the fact that their father treated their mother quite badly, but they will still love him, but Rupert's youngest daughters may not have got over the split yet; it has been quite quick.

I suppose it's the way of the modern world.

I hope Jerry Hall is happy, she deserves to be. I liked her frock and Deedaa, 'clumping about in flat shoes' is something I've had to do for years because of arthritis. It was a Big Deal for me when planning my outfit when my daughter had a big wedding a few years ago. I managed it but to be honest, I'd have been very hurt if someone had accused me of clumping about in flat shoes.
I notice that even Victoria Beckham is now wearing flat shoes, I suspect her bunions have got the better of her.

Re- thinking this, I think Grumpa had hit the nail on the head - "I'd like to see the Pre-Nup."
I also think it was a bit hard on the daughters to act as bridesmaids. After all they probably still have some love left for their other parent.

Oh, please! Stop mentioning David Beckham. I'm trying to work.

Who would have thought that someone who first came to our elderly notice as the lovely Brian Ferry's girlfriend would end up with the not lovely Rupert?

Perhaps Rupe has a couple of billion other attractions (in the bank).

As my mum would have said, "It'll save 'em spoiling another pair!"
Happy Mothers Day mum.
Another of her sayings was, "You could leave him on't doorstep all night and nobody'd run off with him.
I could go on................

I like Jerry Hall, she always seems to be her own person and seems happy and well adjusted. I think she likes being with interesting men and whilst he may be old he can't be stupid! I am sure she is wealthy enough in her own right to pick and choose and this is what she has done. Good luck to both of them and don't forget, nobody thinks it strange for men to marry younger women.

grumppa Sun 06-Mar-16 13:56:03

Excellent pension planning on her part, but I'd like to see the Pre-Nup.

Blondehedgehog Sun 06-Mar-16 13:50:07

As the old saying goes....Marry in Lent live to repent.....I will wait and see

annsixty Sun 06-Mar-16 13:44:49

Jalima perhaps not for her but surely for him.
Makes me shudder. But they did look very happy.

Jalima Sun 06-Mar-16 12:47:13

That last sentence came out wrong, I meant to say that 'I think we feel it has to do with us all etc '

Jalima Sun 06-Mar-16 12:46:35

has had all the sex
Surely not at an end hmm

I think it has to do with us all when celebrities court so much publicity.

Gemmag Sun 06-Mar-16 12:01:04

I'm sure she knows what's she's doing. Very clever lady and very clever man. She has looked incredibly happy in every photo of them I have seen.
She is after all 59 not 29 and has had all the sex and enjoyed it too I'm sure.
There is more to life like diamonds, jets £££££.
They are both very happy and long may it last.

rafichagran Sun 06-Mar-16 11:52:15

Good luck to them, what has it got to do with anyone else. As people rightly point out she has her own money, so maybe she just loves him and wants to be with him.

Badenkate Sun 06-Mar-16 11:14:55

Loved it Jamila. I'm quite happy to have a picture in my mind of David Beckham wink

TriciaF Sun 06-Mar-16 11:12:09

Lots of photos if you google.
Jerry Hall's ankles looked a bit puffy, maybe that's why she's wearing flat shoes. They both looked very happy - good luck to them.

henetha Sun 06-Mar-16 10:52:01

My first reaction was... Gosh, really? But upon thinking about it,
if this is what they both want, then good luck to them and I hope they
will find what they are looking for in each other. Happiness is not easy to find, not even when you are rich. So, all the best to them.

Jalima Sun 06-Mar-16 10:51:55

nightowl perhaps at 84 he has mellowed and they will have a few happy years together (with the help of David Beckham grin)

petra Sun 06-Mar-16 10:44:41

Jalima. Thanks for giving me a laugh. I now have a picture in my head that won't go away!

NotTooOld Sun 06-Mar-16 10:40:29

She did look lovely. Lovely dress, lovely shoes - and I don't blame her for wearing flats, much more comfortable. I was a bit shocked by Bill Wyman, though. Was he wearing a woolly pully? And a paunch?
