Aunt sues her 12 yr old nephew

I once read an article about an (American) woman who successfully sued a furniture shop because a toddler was running amok and tripped her up, injuring something (I forget what).

It was her own child

No wonder the law is a popular profession to go into. We all know who will win in both cases here, it is the one with the fattest fees.

Perhaps we could take out a class action against our offspring for giving us, saggy boobs, stretch marks, stress, addiction to wine, bad backs and insommnia. The list would be endless haha

Her own child! That is absolutely bonkers Anya... And what is worse is that she was successful?!

Apparently her life is now so difficult that she can't hold a plate of canapés

Does her child have independent means, then? If not, she will have to pay herself whatever damages are awarded.

I think in a lot of these cases there is an insurance policy in place in case a freak injury is caused and it is not the child who actually pays but the insurance company. It's a bit like suing a member of your family if you have been injured in their car. I think! But happy to be corrected on these aspects. If she has suffered a life long injury as a result of this freak incident then she may need financial support and this is the only way she can get it.

I'm trying to imagine the trauma caused by not being able to hold a plate of canapes!

So assuming the child has no significant assets who does she think she will get money from? Some third party compensation scheme? I can see these lawyers sitting their rubbing their hand in glee to dram up a whole new bit of law about this.
