Jermy Corbyn elected

In theory that sounds perfect; in practice I think it will be very difficult if only because tax laws are so complex. They do need reforming but I don't think there are any quick fixes.

Some tax avoidance is legal because we allow it to be - usually using loopholes in the law. Close some of these and the result would increase income to treasury.

Interesting articles. I read Michael Meacher's blog on Friday because I wondered where he was standing on Corbyn as Leader. I always had a soft spot for MM (except when he was Minister of the dept I worked for and like to think he'll step up to play an active role, even if it is just to publicly support the new team.

The Private Eye reference is interesting because the Cayman banks have just said the information the government wants will not be made available. Can't remember who is in charge of the project, but his words were "There's more than one way to skin a cat." Personally, I think the cat will keep its skin for the reasons MM gives - it involves Tory Party contributors. It won't just be the Tories though. Tax avoidance is legal as we keep being reminded.

Another way Corbyn might get support.
Why are MPs not backing him? Why are they so ready to put him down?
He gained the support of most of those eligible to vote. They should accept that. Otherwise they are the ones who will split the party, not Corbyn.

I also read another interesting article about how, if Corbyn is going back to the 80's, his policies are closest to the SDP. Now that's interesting.

I always find the comments very good ( I would say interesting, but four times in one post is a bit much, even for me) after one of these taxresearch articles. Many of them are from well-known economists.

Ah thanks rose I think Keynes was actually about 32 not 15, and to think his theory is simplistic is perhaps a misunderstanding of it.

I wasn't defending dj nor am I annoyed with you soon I am not someone who gets easily annoyed, I am too laid back for that or so my family and friends say.

Just to get back to the subject I simply joined in the conversation, as dj and I tend to agree as you are no doubt aware, that is all. When you think about it, I am not worth getting the hump about, I matter very little in your life, just someone to talk to or not (apparently). No problem.

I presume you got annoyed re the 15 year old.

I have held back for ages, but since the subject of qe feels like it is brought up by either yourself or dj almost daily, I gave up and said it. Actually , when I posted it, I was thinking of dj's posts about it, but soon remembered that you bring it up quite frequently too.

And now? He said he intended to return to Labour as a result of Corbyn becoming leader and would vote Labour in the Scottish parliament election in May
