Named & Shamed: Wage Underpayers

Totally out of order to name and shame but then protect the football club. I am not in the UK, but if I was I would demand, via the Press and my MP- for said club to be also named and shamed.

This appears to be a step in the right direction but I don't understand what was meant by HMRC pursuing two claims (the football club and a recruitment agency) through the "civil route" and why that meant they were allowed to remain anonymous.

Any efforts to prevent employers from withholding the minimum wage are good but I can't help but wonder whether much larger organisations - who can afford to pay expensive lawyers - devise other ways of circumventing the minimum wage law. The businesses "named and shamed" seem to be quite small and hardly household names. Is it again a case of HMRC steering clear of confronting big business?

That does seem especially galling though doesn't it Agus - to pay footballers the extreme amounts that they do but treat those lower down the ladder with such disdain. Shameful. They should have named the club.

Why is the 'unnamed' football club unnamed?

That is refreshing. Especially the 'unnamed' Premier League football club who pay their players obscene amounts of money!
