Maybe guidelines aren't broken I certainly not got time or energy to report it but feel disappointed by the grans net team comment use of this swear word not necessary.

Surely people are aware from past experience that using the F word in the title of a post will provoke a reaction to the language rather than the issue?
Probably repeating myself here. Yes, young people say it all the time , as well as another word beginning with C. Many older people,have been brought up to find extreme swearing offensive, and old habits die hard . Someof us have become immune.What purpose has it achieved?Its upset some more sensitive people , and sidelined the issue of Syrian Children.

Not guilty of any reporting but feel that using language like this can be offensive. We are all intelligent people with a very strong command of the English language. I personally feel that such usage is not necessary to put over your point in a heading in a thread in which the majority of GNs will agree. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

I've read the previous posts Betsy and can't for the life of me understand why people are asking j08 if she would swear in front of her grandchildren.

The thread wasn't aimed at anyone's grandchildren but grown adults who are now swooning at the printed word.

The swearing doesn't bother me, although I don't do it myself on line, but I don't think one area of concern means we don't care about another. Concern , like love, is not rationed.

But this is 'grans' net. Anyway, sorry, don't want to detract from the issue which is of course horrendous.

Focus on vox popularis 'anti burka' stories in the press...it links with other anti-islamic stories and helps to spread the attitude that Muslims are somehow less human than 'us'. Just what Nazis did to the Jews /Gypsies etc before WW2.

Once we have dehumanised Muslims by lumping them altogether as a homgenous whole and not individual people we can feel less concerned about their countries /communities.

If some posters find swearing more objectionable and comment-worthy than the issue in question, that is hardly*j08*'s fault surely.

Fuck is a commonly used word in the world at large these days, all over tv programs and used frequently by the younger generations.

Just because the burka/niqab is being discussed doesn't mean Syria or any other horror can't be discussed equally.
These things aren't rationed, so multiple threads could started without any need for swearing.

j08 We don't agree, I know, about the need for western intervention, but I absolutely agree with your sentiment in this post. Surely we should be more outraged and shocked by what is happening in Syria (and about the various countries that have sold chemicals to it and other countries in the past and who continue to arm the various factions) than about what is a fairly commonplace swear word these days.
