Abandoned baby

The trouble is that although there is plenty of help available there are so many families now where children are regarded as a liability and encouraged to leave home as soon as possible and a girl from that sort of background would probably feel quite helpless with no one to turn to. If it was an abusive home the situation becomes even worse.
Quite a few of the babies abandoned recently have had Eastern European mothers haven't they. I know they can trace the origin through the DNA but, of course, there's no hope of finding the mother once she's gone home.

Nellie it has nothing to do with day and age really, its more to do with being human, yes there are loads of info on contraception and there is no shame associated with illegitimate babies anymore, but the human race will always get themselves in these kinds of situations regardless it.

I worry for the poor girl, what must she be going through right now.

I have been thinking about this since I read it. This is really bad in this day and age.

I could understand it far more over 30/40ys ago when illegitimacy was a dreadful shame. It seems that these days very few people turn a hair about the morality of illegitimacy as they used to.

Information about Sex and pregnancy and contraceptive advice are so readily available. Having a undisclosed pregnancy and having to abandon a baby nowadays makes me think the mum must have been living in a very strict family, culture or religion which meant that they didn't have access to this information or they have been so terrified and isolated they could not deal with the situation at all.

Poor soul.

I saw so many young women (children really) who were pregnant and in a pickle. One poor lass went home from school as she had bellyache and gave birth to her babe alone in her bedroom - she was so frightened that she wrapped it in a plastic bag and stuffed it under the bed where it died of course. That was just one of many.

This poor mother must be frantic - how very sad for baby and mother alike. It should not happen these days.

Hopefully she will be found and helped. I have heard that some women don't realise they are pregnant so if that were the case the poor woman/girl might be very confused. At least the baby will be well looked after and I think it is quite easy to find adoptive parents for babies.

Very sad. The poor woman must be in a dreadful position to have to do that.

It's very sad - for the mother and for the child.

When a child is abandoned and never finds out who his/her mother is, it must be terrible. Adopted children can at least find something out about their backgrounds and possibly make contact later in life.

I sure the mother was desperate but I think she could have chosen somewhere better to leave the baby. I don't condemn the poor woman at all, perhaps she just was unable to think straight. Hope the baby is OK
