I used to enjoy Ever Decreasing Circles also starring Penelope Wilton and Angus Deayton. Richard Briers was also a good serious actor and made a surprisingly good Lear under the direction of Kenneth Brannagh.
I remember him and Prunella Scales in a comedy about a young lawyer/solicitor [?) in the early 60's, she played his long suffering wife . I also saw him after the Good Life [huge favourite] in a Shakespeare play and he was super in it. R.I.P. Richard.[ I believe Paul Eddington, one of his co-stars died some years ago of a skin disease but not cancer - could be wrong there. Just the two ladies left they must feel very sad .]
annodomini - don't recall Angus Deayton in Ever Decreasing Circles - there was Peter Egan (as Paul) and Stanley Lebor (Howard) but those were the only regular actors - Geraldine Newman was Hilda.
R.I.P He always seemed a nice normal man and I loved the part he also played in Monarch of The Glen. Aparently he was a big friend of John Thaw, both being very heavy smokers which unfortunately contributed to both mens deaths.
Agree with you about Peter Egan Tegan My husband used to go out with his wife to be before we met ...... just a little twist of fate and I might have had Peter Egan instead Very sad about Richard Briers, so good in such a wide range of parts.
