I have read quite a lot today (stuck in with a cold
) about the use of the PISA data which shows the UK declining in world tables and how the TIMSS data says exactly the opposite i.e. the UK has improved its position in relation to other countries. As I always thought, neither set of data proves very much because the historical samples are too varied and there are too many variables in the data that they do have.
The PISA data is being used to justify the Government's agenda and the TIMSS data is being ignored.
Cynical or what?
