A few of the York Grans are hoping to meet for lunch on Friday, 28th February at Blue Barbakan in Foss gate, at 12.30. The new, bigger, restaurant which is just up the road from our old favourite, the Barbakan, serves tasty Polish food and cakes. Hope that lots of York GNers, old and new, will be able to join us.
I hope to be moving back to York after being away in Hertfordshire for nearly 17 years and it's reassuring to know that there's a Gransnet community I can join in with. I've always worked and been too busy to make friends (big mistake) and was dreading the move but now I see there are friends to be made again.
Hello Gourmet We'll be having another meet-up in York in the next month or two. Watch out for the new York meet-up thread. Hope you will be able to join us.
Lovely photo ladies, nice to be able to put a face to the names. Polish restaurant, that's different - the food looks good. Glad you had a lovely afternoon.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, the 28th, at the Blue Barbakan, Fossgate, at 12.30. It's a lovely sunny day here today.Hope it's fine again tomorrow; you won't have to paddle to the restaurant!
Hi all York GN unable to make this meet but will keep eye out for next. I love York and easy for travel. Meeting in Leeds on 24th where hope to introduce few new faces all welcome to join us. This is such a great site for welcoming new GN.s
Welcome northerngardener Sounds as though you and gardenoma have a common interest! I'll book a table this week but the restaurant is very flexible and more places can be added if necessary for latecomers.
Less than two weeks til our meetup in York and hopefully the flood water should have receded by then! As the Council says 'York is still open for business'. The daffodils are starting to come out on the Bar Walls and Clifford's Tower so it's worth a visit just to see those.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the floods don't rise any higher here in York. Our chosen venue has only just reopened after the floods 5 years ago. The new flood barrier should be able to cope....
Of course Lizzies you are more than welcome . Although it's called 'the York meetup' Grans come from all over the place: Sheffield, Northallerton, Easingwold and even occasionally from Scotland!
