This is a preliminary enquiry. I should like to invite my Gransnet friends to lunch before I set off to New Zealand, which will be somewhere between 5 and 15 May. I live in Darlington which is relatively easy for North-eastern and east coast Scottish grannies to get to. West coast Scottish grannies would have a longer journey. I think you would have to do a train to Glasgow, then change for Edinburgh before the train to Darlington. Grannies who live in other parts of the country would be hugely welcome too.
I need a sort of ballpark figure so that I can book a place and arrange the catering. I was thinking some time towards the end of April. We can discuss exact dates so that those I particularly cherish don't get left out because of other commitments.
Is anyone up for this? Let me know or glass who is also helping with this plan and trying very hard to keep me in order.
Any more? I shall be confirming the booking in the course of next week, so if you would like to join us, please let me know. I'll PM everyone here with the address once I remember to bring the relevant piece of paper up three flights of stairs from the sitting room to my office.
I was excited at seeing this posting and finding the venue 15 minutes car journey away, but then sadly I found the date was while I am away in the Lake District. Have a lovely time everyone and good luck in your move to New Zealand.
Maureen thats a shame, have a good time in the lLkes, but we have regular meet ups in Newcastle if you can make it and I think there are few of us trying to get down to the Northallerton meeting at the end of April.
Oh I dont mind it once in a while, but then I like Guiness (sp) etc. I am on the happy pills today, schools back and I am having the first bit of peace for two weeks, so I am having a nice cup of Ringtons then going to start.
Joseph Pease will be presiding, as he always does, from his vantage point at the junction of High Row and Bondgate. However, he will not be checking the time by the market clock as he takes out his pocket watch only once a year – at midnight on New Year's Eve.
If the Broon stuff develops hairs on your chest, could they then be located elsewhere to another part of the anatomy, if so I might try it? (after the Moet of course)
