Let’s not forget who gave Amazon their wonderful tax deal: Jean Claude Juncker when he was President of Luxembourg and then took the top seat at the top table in the EU. Just saying ?
I'm pretty sure that Visa will find a way to reduce their charges to such a massive customer as Amazon. DHs small business appealed and had their Visa charges reduced. I think Amazon is playing hard ball with Visa.

I plan use my credit card to load up my Amazon gift card with few hundred quids before January, then just keep topping it up via Tesco purchases of further gift cards.
As far as I’m concerned that’s it for Amazon now, they’re over the line. I shall take my credit card and happily spend it elsewhere. These huge companies are in fact a future menace. I read recently that the CIA and the FBI use Amazon servers, and now MI5 and MI6 are going to do the same. Personally I think Jeff Besos, Elon Musk, Google and Facebook are the anti Christ. Too much power in too few hands means these companies will control countries.
It is simply the fees that Amazon pay for card use that is casuing the cancellation. I think Martin Lewis is right, it is the first move by Amazon to negotiate a smaller fee to visa.
Yup. This is presumably why my First Direct account cards changed from Visa to Mastercard. As I understand it, under EU rules, charges were limited to 0.3%, now that we have thrown off the shackles of the EU, we can now be charged the liberating rate of 1.5%. Hurrah!

There are plenty of alternatives. I know I shouldn't support Amazon to the extent I do but there truly aren't plenty of alternatives that will meet the customer service I enjoy with Prime. Same day delivery in some cases, next day for virtually everything else. One fee covers as many deliveries as I wish, no minimum spend. There isn't another company that can supply the breadth of goods delivered in such a timely manner.
I stopped shopping at Amazon when I discovered they didn't pay taxes and overwork their employees. Why do you think they are running the advertising campaign to tell us what wonderful employees they are - because they aren't.
