My sister was charged £500 for a small change to her will she wished she’d just made a new one .

Could you afford to give your son the same amount over say the next year and then the will could stay as it is??

A codicil AllTheLs gives an explanation as to the content and reasons for that content of a will.

So as with your situation, your will can have a codicil that states that your estate (or the remainder after any other beneficiaries) is to go to your son and daughter, but your son's share is to be £5,500 greater than your daughter's as she received that sum from you during your life time.

It is advisable to get your will drawn up by a solicitor, especially if it's less than straightforward.

I'd write a new will. See a solicitor who specialises in them, to make sure it's correct.
