Are the robot vacuum cleaners still going strong?

I have had a basic eufy for several years now and love it. I have arranged things to avoid fringed rugs and cables and then just leave it to go about its business.I have replaced the battery once and will buy a newer, fancier version at some point.

The bounce ones are old-style with no mapping facility. They cover the space randomly by bouncing about.

Newer models have mapping facilities and zig-zag their way over the space (as you might mow a lawn). These ones you can set up maps and then you can choose which areas to clean. You can see the different "routes" taken on your Euffy app and can add to them if you want.

On the screenshots you can see it's gone round the furniture I'd pulled away from the wall.

Not spaghetti , what is a ‘bounce’ robot?
Can they only work if programmed to perform at a certain time each day?

I have not used mine for years. When used upstairs 9I do not have fitted carpets) it couldn't climb on the rug and if near the stairs was about to commit suicide. I have 2 but they were bought very cheaply.

Thanks for the reminder, I should get them out and recharged to see if they will clean anywhere.

Mine can climb over quite big floor differences BTW.
Tiles to carpet including the threshold strip is about 15mm

I have 3 now. Two very cheap Euffy ones and one cheap-ish one that was about £240 - which was on offer from the company. It's an Euffy L60 with a self-emptying station and I think is probably £300 ish full price?

This one (L60) lives at the top floor of our house and does a whizz round 4 times a week. It has an excellent hair cutting device on the "empty" station and though it's noisy when it's emptying it's quiet in vacuum mode. I don't need it to empty every time. It's set up to hoover at 9.15 and goes in a logical pattern - but slightly different each day so you don'tget carpet lines. It does boards and carpet up there. I can see where it's been on my app.

I do sometimes go upstairs and pull the furniture away from the wall so it can go behind things.

Downstairs we have two "bounce" robots. One is in the kitchen which has no wi-fi and it happily bounces around in there whenever I tell it to.
I like being able to get it to go round the edges of the work surface on a crumb hunt and then go "home".

The other is housed under a table in a dark corner downstairs. It does the sitting room, dining room hallway etc. It is also a "bounce" type but is set to go off each day.

My middle floor has 3 different levels so not so clever for robot vacs... I take one of the bounce ones up and just let them do a couple of rooms at a time now.
It works for me.

I think these have revolutionised my floor cleaning! I never liked vacuuming and lugging my excellent Henry around is now quite rare... I want one to do stairs now!

Euffy has a new one with a mop that you plumb in. That would be a good idea I think.

Some robots don't work on 5Ghz wi-fi and some (newer) wi-fi are 5Ghz only.
Almost all work on 2.4Ghz.

I know one person who still loves theirs.
She isnt ultra fussy.

I know another household who has given up.
They gave up because it didnt go under furniture enough for their taste.

My son uses one and it automatically vacuums his whole house once a day and then puts itself back on the charger. I notice that he puts a long stick blocking rooms where he doesn't want it to go, that I have to step over. He has been using it for a couple of years. He told me that if I buy one, to look for the best name brand one, then buy a no-name brand one online, that has the same features but a lower price. His floors are always spotless, carpet and wood.

I get my exercise and push a Dyson .

We have just bought one from Eufy on the recomendation of DS2.
It even washes floors allegedly.

actually bought it 2012, so 12 years old

I have the roomba 800 series, got it approximately 2015, replaced the battery and brushes and itis still going strong. I left it working in the kitchen/diner this morning while I went on a walk. The newer, more expensive ones are more advanced

I would not expose it to carpet fringes or cables. It does a fantastic job on the rug in my living room and works its way close to skirtings, not leaving any marks on the paintwork. It does a very thorough job

If a door is left open without an barrier then my roomba will clean it.
