cost of new combi boiler

I had to get a new boiler 3 years ago...a Baxi...local heating engineer instaled it, cost was £2000, with a 10 year guarantee
as long as it's serviced yearly..

I have a small house with only 5 radiators. My boiler is on the way out, and my lovely gas engineer has told me to budget £1800 for a new Worcester Bosch in the next year or so.

Had ours replaced about 3 years ago by British Gas at a cost of £3000 for a Worcester Bosch. Five year warranty with the boiler and first two years of servicing/maintenance for the whole central heating system were included in the cost.

Earlier this year we had to have ours replaced because it kept breaking down-probably due to age.
We used Corgi and have a Worcester Bosch with a remote control.
It cost us less than £2000.

I would definitely get a few quotes from local independent firms - British Gas are notoriously expensive. Ours cost us about half what they were quoting for exactly the same boiler.

Ours, including new external pipe work was £2,700 nearly two years ago, BG quoted nearer £4k

I would suggest you get a couple of quotes from reputable Gas Engineers. Make sure they are certified . Also, go by recommendation. BG are frightfully expensive.

The quote we had from British Gas was nearly double than from the independent person we chose to go with.

I'd hazard a guess between £2,200 and £3000 and I'd avoid British gas as they always overcharge.

If your management company has a contract with BG it makes sense to use them.

I would advise getting 3 quotes. British Gas quoted more than double the quote of a local company.

Franbern, why don't you ask British Gas for a quote? They installed ours at what I thought was a reasonable cost. Unfortunately the previous boiler, which was relatively new, kept breaking down and I was fed up with it.
The work did involve changing piping as it wasn't compatible with the previous piping.

The cost varies, depending on what needs to be done. They work out how many radiators it will need to support, which determines the size of boiler. I have a Worcester Bosch which supports up to twenty two radiators.

The installation was supposed to take two days, but they did it in one day, because I had severe health issues at the time.
I was delighted with the service.
