Best cotton sheets to buy? Help!

I have Sheridan bedding and love it, very soft and durable. I have a fitted bottom sheet so just pull that on without ironing and the top sheet and pillowcases I line dry until just damp then tumble for twenty mins.

M&S for good quality pure cotton sheets, and invest in a rotary iron, so quick and easy to use, just fold them and feed them through the rollers like commercial laundries do.

For quilt covers, try Dorma pure 100% Cotton range, avaliable from Dunhelm. They are really good quality and very soft and comforable, Since buying mine in their sale last year, I will never buy the polycotton type ever again.

I use bamboo bedding, love it, really silky. However, they do need ironing. I get them from Paragon.

I like ironed sheets but like ironing them! So fitted M and S tencel sheets are brilliant, they pull taut so look great!

Kelly Hoppen for me,400 or 500 thread count, lovely thick crisp white cotton feels wonderful on the skin but I do iron it .QVC.

I'm with Riggie. I love IKEA bedding. It's soft light cotton and feels very comfortable.
It washes well and lasts for years

Just bought 1000 thread count from TK Max - divine!!

I got some 400 thread count white Egyptian cotton sheets from Dunelm a while ago. I don’t iron them but get them out of the machine ASAP and on the line right away. There’s nothing nicer than line dried fresh sheets. I always sleep better, deeper longer with a lower heart rate dip (so my sleep monitor says,) on fresh sheets.

How about linen? No point in ironing the, they crumple just looking at them . But because of that, they don't necessarily look scruffy; just rumpled and relaxed.

Soak & Sleep aren't too pricey. They also do Egyptian cotton and various thread counts.

Oh dear, I am obviously in the minority, but life's too short to spend time ironing sheets! I use Egyptian cotton sheets with a high thread count, hung on the line with a firm tug and hopefully on a windy day. I do however iron pillow-slips.

I no longer use duvets because I never found the right tog setting to match our changeable weather and woke up too hot or too cold, plus I found the effort of changing a king size duvet on my own just too difficult.. I have gone back to blankets and bedspreads, quite easy to make although I admit not as easy as a duvet cover but at least you don't have to change them every week.

Now, feel free to call me old-fashioned!

I'm still using pure cotton sheets which an aunt made in 1960's. She gave them as gifts to her sisters, my mother being one. She bought the cotton at a local market stall, hemmed it, and even edged them with a contrast fabric. She also made the matching pillowcases! The only drawback is that, in certain lights, you can see the words ' Hospital Property ' embossed on the fabric!! Market traders had obviously managed to get hold of the material. I still use them occasionally, and I do iron them. Personally, I prefer brushed cotton, unless the weather is particularly warm, which, in NE Scotland, isn't all that often.

I like The White Company 200 thread count Egyptian Cotton. Interestingly, given how people rave about higher thread count, I prefer 200. Higher than that, I find them too silky. I really like the thick, crisp cotton feel that 200 have. As for ironing them. Great idea. I have a super king size bed. I tried ironing them once many years ago and concluded that life is too short! They feel crisp enough and lovely anyway!

JaneRN: Ah, duvets. I struggled for years to find something that worked for me, including having two, one for winter and one for summer. I now have a 9 tog pure goose down duvet. It's very lightweight, suitable for all year round use, and it's easy to put in a duvet cover - just roll it into a sausage shape, put the roll at the top of the cover, and then unroll into place. Once I've done the buttons up, I shake it out over the banisters.

I prefer John Lewis 200 thread count 100% cotton bed linen..crisp enough to be cooling, and soft enough to be warm.

Can’t really help with the sheets but I agree with polnan that I won’t buy anything online that doesn’t say where it is made (not designed!). Should be obligatory imo.

Egyptian cotton always needs ironing.

You will always have to iron cotton sheets unless the are mixed with another fabric, but I love them. I agree about Ikea. Also, they give you 4 pillow cases with a double duvet set.

I’m with Jinty. Soak and Sleep all the way for me, they have a magnificent selection and customer service is excellent.
I have the towels from them too all super quality.

If you get 50/50 cotton/polyester, you will never have to iron them.
If you want a light duty summer cover, then good old ASDA do a smashing range. A double is usually £12.00, and they wash beautifully. They are remarkably smooth and comfortable.

King of Cotton’s range of Egyptian cotton is 200 to 1000 thread count all of exceptional quality. They have a Percale or Sateen finish but as with all Egyptian Cotton do crease a little with wear and look better with a quick iron. Percale is crisper but creases more and Sateen is softer with the slight sheen wearing off with use.

I get my sheets from Dunelm, they have iron and non-iron. Also we have a wide mattress they have different widths. I'm very pleased with their sheets and Duvet covers. Very reasonable prices, and their sales are brilliant, very good value.

Cotton traders do good everyday cotton sheets and pillowcases. Not expensive and generous sizing. I bought some from TK MAXX, very disappointed. Skimpy sizes, threads pulled ( never had this in sheets before). I will order more from Cotton Traders.
