I suppose small terraced in the old days were built as cheaply as possible.

Had a busy day - with my new cordless screwdriver I was able to take out some screwed on picture hooks on wall in bedroom. Repaired damage to plaster from taking these out - then was able to put up very large picture stickers on wall. Two sets each end of long wall. I am pleased with the outcome, something different for me to look at from my bed.
Then sorted out my screw and tools box, which I have not done since I moved, and replaced a small screw in the hinge on one of my kitchen cupboards. In between (needing to sit down to rest) did more of my difficult jigsaw, then tidied up patio area and took out and threw away dead sweet peas growth. Swept up and then had a shower.
Telephone call received from my oldest daughter who had been up in Wales over weekend with her cousin, clearing out the stored stuff of the cousin's brother who died in April from Cancer.
For me that is a lot of stuff in one day - and should sleep well tonight.

Keep an eye on the picture stickers, Franbern. I bought some from B&Q.

I used them to put a picture up over the head of the bed in the spare room and the picture fell down after a while. Luckily it was a very lightweight canvas because DGD was in bed at the time. She was startled but not hurt, thank goodness.

Callistemon - by picture stickers I do not mean hooks for pictures, but actually large transfers which stick directly onto the walls, making my own montage. I will try, later today, to do a couple of photos.
Well, this is the start of my last 'normal' week for sometime. Next Monday, bathroom fitters will start their work, and they will be here for at least two weeks - in between, on the Bank Holiday weekend, my eldest daughter and eldest g.daughter will be coming for three days stay with me.
Off to Sainsbury's in half an hour.

So many cobwebs have appeared, almost overnight, it has started with mist and is much cooler with high humidity >90% so it is not worth hanging washing out. I have a half load on, which will have to be dried indoors with the door slightly open. It includes my very warm weather nightwear which I will pack away for next year

I think I will make 2 apple and blackcurrant crumbles later, apples from my own tree, great big howgate wonder and frozen crumble mix. Not a lot to do today, just the usual house faffing with a duster and floor washing. I have broccoli to use so might make a soup with frozen sauteed onion and frozen potato, defrosted first. I don`t want to add cheese or cream

I quite like non-busy days

Raining heavy here. Back in a long sleeved tee shirt. Just housework and ironing to do. Ordered some bulbs from Parker's and Thompson and Morgan had a offer on shrubs for £4 each so ordered 3. My grandson calls me nana more plants. Never spent so much on a garden. But it's been hard work but am pleased with the results. The weeds in the back garden are taunting me. Forecast doesn't look good for the rest of the week. Need to phone Home serve to book my boiler service. Then not much to do for the rest of the day. So I will read and cross stitch. Meant to say talking to my friend in the Midlands. She was telling me they have made the police station, old library and Catholic church into apartments. And put a extra floor over some shops and made those into apartments . All are on the ring road. Who would want to live on a ring road?

yes, shove the oldies into boxy rooms in busy areas, that is what some young would like, so they could have our houses with gardens. No flipping way, us lot are never going to be shackled, we have gone through a lot in our lives and have fully earned and deserve, what we have now. Nothing came easy

Washing is out to grab a bit of sun, I am ready to do the dash to bring it back in. 3 nice crumbles as the apples were so big and the soup is on. Easy peasy day ahead

Morning all, a real autumn rainy morning here today. Yesterday's duvet cover and sheet on the line still, soaking. Only a tiny sheila maid here and I haven't got the heating on anyway, I do miss the aga.

Managed to get a vet's appointment for 12 noon, poor cat has a cold sore around her eye, third time this year. Hope your dog's ear is healing Ellianne, lots of strange dogs on the beach last night, it does make me nervous. One dog ran up to us growling, the family were very odd about it, said 'it's not your dog'. I know that!

I love hearing about your gardening, almost time for chrysanthemums and cyclamen.

Right another coffee then a wet dog walk, I need to get some ordinary wellies rather than my lace up Sorel boots, such a faff lacing them up.

I'm waiting for my huge roll of bubble wrap to rewrap my bric a brac safely for moving again, hopefully I'll come across a tiny ornament my husband gave my daughter.

Was back from Sainsbury in an hour - lovely going supermarket shopping so early - it has so few people or cars.
I am uploading two pictures of the bedroom wall art. I have seen several of these on my g.childrens bedroom walls, and liked them and decided to see if there was anything suitable for adults. They were easy to use asnd such fine designing the layouts.
Weather here is sunny and warm - very pleasant indeed.

Thay are nice and cheery franbern, you always did say that you liked to look at flowers on your patio. Cheery is the operative word

Just holding on for Direct Line to insure my daughter's boyfriend for her car, have transferred ownership on line, finally managed to print out the PDF. I don't recommend signing up for the HP Smart ink programme, it's taken me ages to get it to work again because I didn't have the 'colour' smart ink installed, doh!

I have HP smartink - have had it since I purchased my current printers some two years back. Lowest level £1.99 a month. They have done well out of me over that time. Received a cartridge within a few weeks of getting the printer (the one it is sold with has a very limited run), paid every month since, and only needed to put in a new one about a month ago So, that is is two years of paying in total about £48 for this new cartridge. And, I am now using the printer even less now than I was back then, as I no longer have some voluntary jobs I was needing to do with it.
They say that printer cartridge ink is more expensive than liquid gold.
The stickers would undoubtedly stick to wood, as long it has a flat surface. They are easy to use, and also easy to remove. Fun to play with.

less than a week now shandy, I am sure you are feeling a little bit nervous. Are all your plans in place for travel, accomodation and house viewings? If you are looking at an older terrace, perhaps ask beforehand if there is fire insulation in the loft, between the houses and I wonder if you could make yourself knock on the neighbours doors if you particularly like any property. Just introduce yourself and ask how long they have been living there.

If you really really like it, then go back and look outside in the evening, when people are home. Walk around to get a feel for that area and maybe go and ask in an `open all hours` shop

Thing is that you have to do as much research as you can in a very short time, you won`t easily be returning back and please don`t tell anyone you are a widow. Go in with head up and looking full of confidence even if your knees are quaking. If you love it, do your best to be nonchalent, as though you don`t care. Remember that the next stage after a second viewing would be the offer so don`t let them see if you are keen

Haircut soon, lunch first

Typical just been in the garage repotting some seedlings and putting extra tape on my mattress . The council are collecting it tomorrow. It was pouring with rain. Just sat down and the sun has come out. Ordered my green house today. Need to watch out for the gardener that does several of the gardens in the road. As I will need the slabs leveling and extra ones put down . And see if he can erect it for me. Save asking my son in law. I've brought Alan Titchmarsh's greenhouse gardening book. See what I can put in over winter. Another new challenge.

There is nothing I can use the space for. As I have a garage don't need a shed. So thought a green house you be a good idea. My dad always had one. It's 6' x 4' with poly carbonate panels. Metal frame with base. Had it off a company on e bay spoke to them and they answered all my questions. I buy a lot of things off eBay all new. My cross stitch Aida is cheaper from a site and British made. Always try and by British as we need to support our manufacturers ,food suppliers and especially our farmers.

I hope that more and more are buying British and supporting local shops. I was sad to see so few people strolling through the high street today. I saw one person through the window of the supermarket in the precinct, shops cannot survive unless we get back to normal. I am trying to shop local, have ordered lots of compost on click collect, I have a short time slot, need to get in and load my car myself, 14 bags, might need a paracetamol that night. Should be ok if I do as usual and wrap my arms around the bag to load. 7 will be humus for the roses, only 2 worms in there as lacking humus and was too compacted,

I get my compost from a local hardware store. They deliver free if you spend £25. Get 6 bags of 50l Westland multi purpose for £24 so just had pack of bin liners for £1 . Delivery is £3 if below £25. Which is still reasonable. Order one day delivered next. Old fashioned service.

Oh dear, not the best day to move house, pouring with rain! It will slow the journey time too, so I'm getting nervous it will be done in a day. Fingers crossed.

Ellianne hopefully the rain will stop soon. On the positive side they are moving. After all the drama it's finely happening. The weather may be awful but it's a happy day.

I am waiting for a victoria sponge to bake, the builders looked crestfallen when I said I hadn`t brought any cake yesterday. I gave the binmen cake 2 weeks ago. These hard working men, do love and appreciate a bit of home made cake, it makes me smile

A weather turn now, feels as though autumn is really on its way and I am in knitting mode

Ellianne, every good wish to your daughter and her family. As they come 'Westward' the weather should improve for them, to welcome them into their new home. Will be a busy week or two for you and them.
Off to Cribbs Causeway Shopping Mall this morning. I have been wanting to go there, but - obviously, then had to wait until it re-opened, and then with such lovely weather did not want to 'waste' any of that by being indoors.
Daughter is driving us there this morning - I feel I would like someone to take me the first time, to know best place to park, etc. etc. There are buses that run there from town, but if I use them, I am unable to take my scooter, which means I would not be able to get around much there.
March 2019 for Mothers Day, my twins gave me a £50 Waitrose/John Lewis Voucher, which I still have - so will have a look if I can spend that today. We will have lunch there. By the time we leave, should be much drier.

My daughter and her boyfriend have gone through all her possessions, and the car will be leaving here with them both and lots of items in a few hours! I am sorry to see we are expecting gales, I hope they aren't affected on the ferry on Friday.
