Help calm me. House buying and selling stress. Part 6

Whiff I had my hair done today, 1st time since March, it’s been straightened too so it’s long and swishy! Only thing is my glasses keep falling off of the top of my head. Usually it’s like an untamed bush and is all over the place. No toilet use, magazines or drinks though and I had to wait out in the sun until I was fetched by the hairdresser. Anyway, all is good.

The log cabin / garden annexe isn’t going to go ahead, lots of reasons why, that are too personal on a public forum, but now we can spend the money on ourselves (yaay) .
Instead we will convert our large garage into a bolt hole, as soon as we can get hold of a carpenter, they are like hens teeth around here! Also we can get our bathroom done, again plumbers are thin on the ground in Oxfordshire.
I hope the weather is cooler for you Shandy with all of those train trips, have you made appointments for viewings yet?

Not to self do not go outside of an afternoon even under the parasol. It's 31° in my kitchen and 24° in the living room. Dread to think what it is outside.

Not long to wait now Shandy57 . If you nod off on the train make sure you set your alarm for plenty of time before you need to change. I nodded off on the way to Lime street once it was a very hot morning luckily it's the last stop.

ha ha should have said moved up temporarily, just visitors, looks like the population has quadrupled over the past few days. Couldn't park so had to go to the next village to post my parcels.

Great you managed to get your hair cut Whiff, glad you enjoyed having your hair washed. Pedicure next! My poor old aunt was so excited she got an appointment she went a week early and they couldn't squeeze her in, she had to go home again. I'm glad she's finally bought herself a walker with a seat, it was a long walk.

Dog goes into kennels on 23rd, I'm off on the 24th. Have just had key cut for the cat sitter, and a spare for my neighbour, I am a worrier as you know and don't like leaving my cat trapped in the house without any exit. Will take six hours to get to Kent, two trains, one for three and a half to King's Cross, then one and a half to Broadstairs. I have to change at King's Cross to St Pancras. I've just got the cat food, need to lug the cat litter in.

Feeling very guilty, I've just had a huge piece of chocolate cake, last piece I'll ever have, it never tastes like my Mum's.

Why does it matter Shandy57 who lives in the village hopefully you will be moving soon. What date is it you go house hunting?

Had my hair cut lunchtime feels so much lighter and cooler. Having it washed was very nice. Another new thing ticked off the box. Wonder what my next new experience will be hopefully it will be nice.

Not long till your bathroom Franbern, how exciting. You'll be meeting your tradesmen and I'll be boiling on a train that day for six hours! I've just cleared the bed in the second bedroom so my daughter can sort her things when she stays - lots of it is stacked in the bath!

I've sold a few things and off to the post office, expect it will be almost impossible to park, seems that the whole of Yorkshire has moved into the village Wish more southerners would come up.

The bath I am having fitted in my guest bathroom is lower than the normal one. I do occasionally need to soak in a hot bath for medical reasons (helps a lot when I get a blockage in my ostomy).
The seat in the one in the picture would defeat the object of being able to really lie back and soak with hot water covering my abdomen,
If it really became an issue about getting out, I would have fitted one of those retractable sit-on straps which would lower me down and lift me up- but then retrace into its own box and not interfere with anyone else using the bath.
I am having a shower installed over this bath (mainly for guest use - as I have a lovely one in my en-suite).
To me having both a bath and a walk-in. shower is very important. When I was flat hunting, I only looked at those with two bathrooms/shower rooms or else with one big enough for four pieces.
Much to my surprise I have managed for the past nine months with just using the shower (with shower seat). Have needed to use the bath a couple of times - but the small corner one at the moment there really only permits me to sit bolt upright in it - which defeats the purpose. Am looking forward to this winter when I will, once again be abe to soak and warm up in a nice bath.

Franbern wonderful news for your daughter. But at least they are going to investigate and do further tests. You will have a lovely bank holiday.

Went shopping and was surprised how quiet it was. Then went to my daughter's for lunch and played with my grandson all afternoon while she attended an appointment. He is now in a single bed and had to show it to me. Then sat in it while I read 4 books to him. We played hide and seek for a hour but he always gives himself away by giggling. He soon finds me as there are a limited number of places for me to hide. Had fun doing other things as well.

Having my hair cut tomorrow lunch time. Be glad to get it back to shoulder length with this heat.

Craftyone, is that bath easier to get out of than a normal one? I can't manage a bath.
I'm still deciding whether to replace my smart bathroom so I can have a walk in shower and no bath instead of a bath with a shower over it.

I do miss the lovely Meet-up group I used to attend with you and Niobe. Still hope sometime to be able to see you all again.
Been a strange weather day here. Warm all the time,but just muggy and cloudy. Sun tried to break through about 2.30 pm but did not manage it. I am lucky that the flat is so easy to keep well aired and cool.

Well I can tell you are by the refreshing seaside. It's so hot here 32.2 . Beginning to think more people might die because of the temperature. Must make sure I drink plenty.
Have ordered various plants for the winter. An apple tree and ferns. Still waiting for my blueberries to arrive.
It's nearly a year since we moved. What a schimozzle that was! And it was warm too. And we lived with endless boxes in the sitting room. But it was such a good scheme and thank goodness we moved before the covid lockdown.

Absolutely, Niobe. Children are life-time sentence for us. But, would not have it any other way. My children all know that I do not want any health secrets kept from me, as if I suspected they were doing so, I would spend far more time worrying about what I am not being told.
It is difficult to get my head around the idea that they are now all coming into the time, when they can be getting age-related health problems. To me they always seem around 20-30 years of age!!!!! As a family we tend to have our children late, yet, even with that my eldest g.child will be having his 20th birthday this week.
After my weekly Sainsbury shop this morning, I popped out to The Range this afternoon. Purchased a couple of things, but when I got home realised that one item I had specifically gone for I had forgotten. Up to now have only gone there by car, but it is within distance for my scooter, so may do that later in the week.
Managed finally to unlock my Tesco's credit card. They locked it in error and the only way to sort it is to telephone them. This I did a few weeks back, got an apology and assurance it was unlocked and all I had to do was 'go to an ATM, and follow instructions'. I did not ask 'Which Instructions?', so messed that up and it was locked again. This time, the person at the other end of the ' phone gave me exact instructions as to what to do - and have now done so.
So fortunate that I have so much time to sort these sort of things out.

Ahh Franbern, a weight off your mind. I think we go to our graves worrying more about our children than about ourselves.

PS I think the bits were single cell organisms, but I'm no scientist.

That is very good news about your daughter Franbern. It will be lovely for you to see her at the end of the month.
Weston wasb on Countryfile last night. There was an old couple collecting jam jars of muck from the sea. When they put the tiny bits under a microscope, however, the grit turned into beautiful kaleidoscope jewels.

Am so pleased to be able to report that my eldest daughters scan came back without anything showing. Whilst this is a great relief, it still leaves the question unanswered as to why hr living count keep coming back too low. She is now due to see her GP shortly - have further blood tests and see if they have now returned to what they should be,.
She is also now able to return to her office for two days each week - which is making her far more happy. The other three days she will continue to work from home, but at least she is now actually able to be far more hands on.
She and her daughter are due to come to stay with me over the Bank Holiday weekend. Hope we have more answers then, and I can fuss and spoil her a little.

I have just watched the first episode of `tiny house nation` on netflix and it was so inspiring. Its not a mobile home but is a properlybuilt tiny house with every nook and cranny used to the max. Really some very good ideas and about 700 sq feet. They got a baby grand piano in and a full size soaker bath and btw I do like these american baths, the ones where you lay back safely, This was for a family of 4

Happy first anniversary greeting to both Whiff and Ellianne. Of course, none of us really envisaged our first year in our eunew homes. But we are all still very happy in them.

I'm thinking there's the opening for a good business idea here ....... someone who organises your removals, sorts out your broadband, sends off the meter readings, finds you a new doctor, registers children in schools, books the dog into kennels, has a food delivery waiting etc. etc. I think we would collectively be experts at coordinating all that.

Ellianne I well remember your removal woos of last year. Happy anniversary to you too.

what a lovely inspiring story whiff, hasn`t it flown

Too warm to lie in bed so up at 4.30 but it was lovely, I was outside pottering at daybreak, got washing done before the rain torrents tomorrow and made another 8 small pots of rhubarb and strawberry compote to freeze. I have loved the day so far, I was so tired yesterday all day but I have made a point of being hydrated enough today, lack of water can make you tired because the body has to cope with keeping cool, hence not moving
