Naff or not?

Thanks for the info Coolgran, sounds like a good plan. My fence belongs to next door so don't think she would appreciate me drilling holes in it!

shysal our marbles aren't 'on' the fence, they are 'in' the fence. This allows the light to shine through and works even if the sun isn't shining.

Dh drilled holes in the wood using a 14mm drill. He then painted some Gorilla glue in the hole and put in each marble using a rubber hammer. Think the glue cured in half an hour. Any marble with a piece of colour in it was positioned sideways to let as much light as possible through the clear portion of glass.

The flat glass pebbles will look lovely on the fence also but may not catch the light as much as if inserted in a hole.

We do wonder what will happen in the winter when the wood is wet and swells, will we lose the odd marble ?? But does not matter as there are so cheap to replace.

Hmmm... Less is more. I know, but it's so hard to resist

Good luck.

Your garden your choice - this is what i have noticed about myself in my latter years (72) i really am not bothered what other people think regarding my home and garden - i love roses and though they are "dated" as far as my neighbours are concerned ( i live in an area with many schools, so elderly move and younger move in) but that doesn't bother me whatsoever. Regarding your paving, if it makes your heart sing - go for it.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have now sent for samples of mosaic tiles (thanks to those who suggested them) and grout glitter, which I will try separately in a hidden area before I go ahead. The glitter I would only add very sparsely if at all, to only give the odd sparkle, it is suitable for cement.
I will be spoilt for choice , but want to be sure because it will be permanent.

OP i think to your ideas are lovely. I am sure your garden will be beautiful
I think it will be something special to see.

Beautiful garden Shysalxx

You've made a beautiful job of it so far Shysal It's just lovely. Go with your instincts. If you're 100 % sure its what you want go for it.

Do it [grins]

Not for me but it is your garden so do whatever you like. It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks, we are all different so go for it!

I'm going to copy your idea ! On a dreich, colourless wet winter's day it'll add joy !

I would go one further and remove a cobble every so often, fill it with the shiny stones and set them so it is like a shiny cobble.

Your garden is beautiful.....you clearly have a good eye for design so trust your instincts.

Sounds lovely - good luck with it. I'm envious!

Sounds absolutely wonderful. Go for it. Put your unique stamp on it. I have just acquired a garden mo
oring...had since Tuesday and I already have loads of Crystal sun catchers hanging from a dead curly willow....

I love your garden shysal. It looks very private and I can picture your beaded handiwork. Go for it. Enjoy doing it and enjoying it after.

Shysall, just been round your garden, very nice pics

I would say go for it. I have solar lanterns hanging from the trees and a glass greenman that I made hanging from the fence. Instead of being over why not get one of those plastic low stools and sit on that?

It's your garden.

Do what YOU want .

Feminine garden calls out for Sparkly and Bling , If that's your thing ( which it probably is by your question ). DO IT !

Shysal, love the idea of crystals hanging from your bird feeder, so I am gong to ‘borrow’ your idea. I have 3 or 4 lovely hanging crystals, and shall adorn my bit of garden faffery. Two little birds on a swinging perch, Peter and Paul.
I don’t care if they don’t like it. Off now to search for said crystals!

shysal
Fabuloso garden...I love the different levels.
I'm sure it's a wonderful place to relax and having fairy lights and Moroccan lanterns on as night falls is magic. Love it.

Am totally inspired by your idea shysal as I too have a patio where the pointing is crumbling and needs replacing. Time for me to think "colour scheme" ... do post up some pictures once you've done it.
PS I think your garden looks just lovely!

Sounds lovely. My patio is very feminine & pretty. If DH wants it butched up he can help do it!!
Some hope!

It is down to what you like / want and can manage . I have a large garden which due to that which comes to us all and less mobile have had to make it manageable.
Unless I want to pay someone else to do it for me and what pleasure is there in having a garden when all you can do is sit and look at what someone else has had to do for you.

Brilliant idea, might nick it myself! My garden has a similar vibe going on.

I think they"lle look lovely just a few dotted here and there, as long as they"re safe and non slip when it's been raining and set in flat enough so you won't trip on them. The rest of your garden looks lovely and this will complete it.
