Too much grey ?

Ha-ha EV certainly not like the pavements locally which are all up and down

Grey is fine in a bedroom but I think it would look like a pavement in the living area.

I have Amtico. A warm oak colour. Very hard wearing and forgiving. Goes well with my mix of contemporary/old pieces of furniture. I have seen the same make in various ‘washes’/shades of grey, but prefer a warmer colour. The greys all have a temporary ‘fashion’ feel about them ... which I don’t like.

Sorry Katy, I really dislike grey, l love lots of colour, aubergine, red, purple, just had bedroom painted in deep blue, everything but the ceiling, love it!

I love grey - greys and soft pinks go well together.

Although I like the thought of the grey flooring I am inclined to agree with Maw.

My Son and DIL recently rebuilt and extended their house. Their colour scheme is what you are looking at Katyj. I thought the laminate floor would be too dark and dreary - it is a matt finish. They also have grey carpet in the bedrooms and family room. However with all the paintwork being white and colour in various objects around the rooms it does not look too much of the same colour at all. In fact it looks very clean and light.

Grey like everything else comes in many different shades, I've always been a fan of grey but it's everywhere these days because it's so versatile and easy to liven up with the odd bright colour here and there. My Conservatory is painted a very dark grey but it's such a light room. It's been a variety of colours over the years but the current one is my favourite. I have Lime green to liven it up but lots of bright colours work well with grey.

Mmm, I'm liking the idea of charcoal grey floor, lighter grey sofas off white walls, bright coloured soft furnishings and maybe a multi coloured rug.

You could look at websites like Houzz for ideas. Grey is very “in” at the moment, and can look cold. However, it is a good neutral, and you could warm it up with accessories like cushions and curtains in different, warmer colours. I have an engineered oak floor, grey sofas and curtains, white walls, and a multicoloured rug and cushions and lamps. If it is south west facing you should get a lot of warm light in there.

Grey is very calming, but I would be wary of too much unless (or even) you are very careful with the shades. Why not stick to neutral (beach or light oak ) flooring? You can add colour or not as the case may be, with rugs and it leaves you free to make tonal changes in the future.
