Friends of mine who live in a different borough to myself in London had a stairlift fitted for free. They own the house.

If she ends up buying one, new or reconditioned please make sure that she insures it because it costs a lot of money when it breaks down.

My mum's was fitted by arrangement with SS. Isn't there a scheme to help people stay in their own home ?

Most of the stairlift companies sell reconditioned stairlifts, just ask.

this company rents them but you have to pay for the instalation

if your aunt has a downstairs toilet isnt there anyway you could move her bed downstairs?

My Aunt has just come out of hospital after a fall and finds she now needs a stairlift. Although she owns her house she has very little disposable cash. Could anyone offer advice about whether it is possible to rent or buy a re-conditioned stairlift and what are the pitfalls? I don't think she could afford a new one.
