My other half scratches his bum through his underpants and there is always a stain at the back rather than at the front

The way I deal with this is to drag them off him regularly as he would wear them for a week if he could, or even more.

Wash often and there won't be a problem with any sort of bodily stain

If they are still stained after washing I sling them.

What J52 says- OH only wears dark colour- and lately striped and paisley design- and I'd chuck him out if he didnt' change them every day!!!... and thank goodness no 'off colour' bits (if there is a problem in that dept- tell him to wipe!)

How about some Vanish with the washing powder, and then add an extra rinse at the end (no pun intended - but maybe that would help too..) if he has sensitive skin.

Of course you could buy underpants that are grey to start with! DH wears grey close fitting trunks which are very 'fetching' ! The only thing is, these days, he looks like Michaelangelo's David from the back - and Homer Simpson from the front! He also has a pair of Wallace and Grommet boxers which I keep meaning to throw away, but he is very attached to them! If any of his underwear is the worse for wear in any respect, I ditch it - he never would.

Vanish must be biological though.

I will look for that Oxy stuff. That sounds sort of, natural.

As said, your machine probably has an 'extra' rinse function. Or put them on a second express wash without any powder after wash has finished.

Let him itch, that'll persuade him to change faster than anything! ?

Actually he won't itch if:
1. You don't tell him
2. You use correct amount of bleach etc and make sure it's well rinsed
3. Plead total ignorance of why, tell a few white fibs ?

I don't seem to have this problem, use bio washing liquid, plus oxy-wotsit and 40° wash.

And DH has coloured pants anyway!

Tell him that pants washing is now his department.

Clean every day definitely......grotty bloke if not, so tell him to get his act together!

granjura why didn't I think of that? (Using bio detergent and following with a detergent free quick wash) Will definitely try that. Extra rinse alone doesn't work.

He does have clean ones very day. He is not a grotty bloke! He's just not one of thos rare blokes that wipes it. He is a quick shake man.

jings do you live next door to my vet's surgery? The lady living there seems to take a pride in her whites and there is always a line of white undies ( male and female) blowing dazzlingly in the wind. I always think she must boil them in a pan on the stove.

My mum used to dry them in the oven!!

I use a Vanish bar for stubborn stains. Rub it on like soap and leave it for a while before washing. Luckily I don't have either OH or DSs resident nowadays.

Gosh , it's posts like this that make me glad that I don't have a husband ! Yeech !

I am very happy to say that in 48+ years underpants have never been an issue in our household. I have never used non bio powder except for the babies, I think bio powder is only a problem if you tell people you have used it ... mind over matter.
