mattress toppers

I couldn't get on with my memory foam mattress at all, I was always too warm and didn't find it any more comfortable than the existing matress. I don't have any experience of featherfilled ones but would be interested to hear of anyone who has tried them.

We have a feather one and I LOVE it. Feels utterly luxurious to sink into it and I now have much less night time pain from arthritic hip. Cosy in winter but not hot in summer (how does it do that?) It was expensive but has been worth every penny.

Used to holiday with an Aunt and she had a feather mattress - it sat on a sort of mesh, there was also a bolster pillow, but all so comfortable.

I've read reviews of some feather filled mattress toppers which say they can be prickly. I'm thinking of investing in one, but would down be better?

We had a wonderful down filled one given to us by a friend and used it for years but eventually it became thin and started shedding down through the cover. As they were expensive I bought a feather filled one from an advert in a newspaper. It was very scratchy and we had to take it off,it is in a spare wardrobe packed away.Do go for the best you can afford.

We have a feather mattress topper on our bed. It is lovely and soft but I hate it with a passion!!!
The feathers seem to migrate to the middle and after two or three nights it's like sleeping either side of the great wall of China.
I have to strip the bed to get to it and give it a good shake up to redistribute the feathers, not easy when it is a king size topper. Ours isn't prickly, it came with a really good cover, it's just the large hump down the middle of the bed that is the bother.

Thank you for your suggestions, I will research the pure down toppers and if affordable may be the answer.

We have a hollow fibre one. It is lovely and soft without the problems of the feather or memory foam ones. x
