bloody nuisance shower!

What type of shower is it? Is it heated by gas or electricity or does it heat on demand when used? How old is the shower?

The one at my son's house is inclined to do that. I think it's the type of boiler. Heats "on demand" but then keeps cutting out. It is also practically impossible to get a wash-basinful of really hot water.

You need thermostatic control on it, ours works perfectly at exact Tempe
Rapture you set it at wasn't cheap though.

Can't stand electric showers too temperamental. Invested in what must be a heat on demand one and so much better.

Perhaps requires a service. My showers run off the combi boiler and the temperature never varies.

Its about 8 years old so quite old n only started doing it about 2 weeks ago,didn't no u could get them serviced! Was thinking maybe it was the water pressure gone a bit wrong but really don't no n wouldn't no how to check maybe I should look at a new one. Feel a bit like my shower...hot flushes n going cold

Yes, you can get it serviced but in your case, I think that it needs a new "bar" where the T regulator is. I am having a new one fitted for other reasons, a permanent drip. Make sure if that is the case that you (or the plumber) chooses one that has spare parts easily available. Mine is only 3 years old but there are no spare parts available.

Both our showers run off boiler but are separately controlled with pumps not sure details but work perfectly. Brilliant water comes out exact temperature you preset not messing around adjusting.

Two possibilities: low water pressure can cause the thermostat to cut out to avoid overheating; and someone else running a tap in the house can cause a problem.

We had the cartridge replaced when it did this and it works perfectly now

There would be a lot of tap running going on cos its constant now,I thought it was that at first. Do I need a plumber to get a cartridge replaced?can i check the water pressure thing or is a plumber job? I bet I sound really miserly but if I can sort it myself it'll save a few pounds

Mine runs off the combi boiler. The only way I can get a constant flow of hot water is to turn the heating on and room thermostat up high. No problem in winter, but I really don't like heating on for summer mornings. Since retiring I prefer a bath, but still need to do the same to get a bath full of piping hot water. I have had a pressure regulator fitted to the cold water supply, but it made no difference. All the engineers can suggest is a new boiler, but I am resisting until it gives up the ghost.

We tried to replace the cartridge using a video on utube but we just couldn't get it out and had to be rescued by a plumbing pal. He did say It was unusually stubborn.

The plumber tried to replace my cartridge but found that he could not. One size does not fit all unfortunately. You will need a plumber because he will know what you need and I keep my fingers crossed that you are not in my position with none that fit, hence a new "bar".
