Coffee grounds down the sink?

I put mine in the food waste bin...not sure I'd put them down the sink drain otherwise. Probably put them in the bin.

I was told the grease-freeing opinion by a plumber many years ago, so that's what I still do

I don't drink coffee so only have grounds to dispose of when I have guests. I have heard that they deter slugs so they go on the garden.

I keep mine for DD. She puts them down in her garden. Apparently they deter cats from using it as their toilet! It seems to be working..

When I'm growing peas and beans I put the grounds around each plant, as well as broken egg shells. The rest of the time they go down the sink. No problems so far.

No more coffee grounds thanks to Dolce Gusto. I still have a filter coffee machine which gets used once in a blue moon though and those grounds go on the compost heap.

I collect them for the garden too. I have an old jug by the sink to collect them in, if it rains for too long you can always pour off some of the accumulating water gently.
I would have thought the fat would gather round any trapped grounds in the drain. Having seen the 'ring donuts' of fat that came out of a blocked drain that my husband cleared, I'm very careful what I put down the drain.

I put them on the compost heap. Their success in discouraging slugs may explain why dahlias thrived on our compost heap last summer. Never had much success with dahlias before because slugs have always eaten them. A small amount does go down the sink but most is strained through an old sieve, added to the compost bucket and eventually tipped onto the current compost heap.
