I think that unless you bleach the colour completely out, the previously bleached bit will always be paler than the rest of the shirt...

Try hand painting bleach onto each of the dark checks, or get him to do it as a punishment

I would get DH to work out the solution and bleach his own b***dy shirt but God knows what else he'd bleach in the process.

Have you tried steradent tablets for remiving stains? Dd told me about it. It works.

Yes. I've heard Milton solution is good at removing tea stains as well.
