Spring cleaning – is anyone?

But Butty we have his and hers sheds and he dumps his stuff in mine! One day I will finally have a properly organised shed - one day.

Sheds are lovely - they're not supposed to be spring cleaned, are they?

I have never done a spring clean in the 38yrs I've been married, and have no intentions of starting

Tegan, it was an accident! Don't beat yourself up over it. DH once sawed a rotten branch off our plum tree only to discover that he'd cut the leg off a small frog which must have been sheltering in it - he felt terrible about it and hoped the frog would survive, but sadly it didn't.

He did give it a decent burial, though...

Movedalot, I don't do the same things as you don't do!
I have no cleaning routine, just do an occasional bit when the mood takes me, which is seldom.

Oh dear; it's survived the winter only for me to rip half of it's wing off . However, I have a huge nettle that grows in my front garden and I refuse to dig it up [my son keeps telling me I should] as it's there for the buttlerflies. And I've started planting a few small buddleas [sp]as well so I've made up for my badness [still feel awful, though].

Gillyb Or does your DGS only clean windows when he is not working as a "trapper" down the coal mine.

gillybob I could use your little window cleaner. Does he sweep chimneys as well?

How do you define Spring Cleaning? If its the whole house, forget it. I'm not going to interfere in DH's study or his shed! I have a fancy to clear out my shed so might get round to that sometime.

Does it involve cleaning the gap in radiators? I know someone who does that every week!

Cleaning skirting boards? Do that if someone spills on them or when we decorate.

Do go round with that long thingy which does high cobwebs occassionally but that has nothing to do with Spring.

Is it that cleaning which requires standing on a stepladder? No don't do that.

Don't think I'll list any more things I don't do.

tegan Tortoiseshell butterflies hibernate, so maybe peacocks do too. They are related (both Vanessids) Just thought, could they have been tortoiseshells?

Ella only thing with Georgian style windows is that if the window cleaner doesn't do them properly they look like port holes Last week I had a fit of spring cleaning I washed all the window frames in lounge and bedroom/kitchen and changed the curtains,did all the glass furniture/shelves the rest will have to wait until I recover.or find a willing volunteer.

Feel awful. Brushed a pile of leaves/dirt/cobwebs into a corner of the shed and, as I looked down there were two peacock butterflies . One seems to be ok but the other had a damaged wing [my fault]. Put them outside and they seem to have gone somewhere but why would two butterflies be in a corner of an old shed? I thought they hatched out on leaves [from reading The Big Hungry Caterpillar]. And I've never seen a peacock butterfly in my garden ever [and they are my favourites]. Feel like a murderer now. So Bags; don't go into the shed..leave it alone...

I have my three grandchildren on a Monday through until Tuesday night. With the two girls at school yesterday I thought I would take advantage of my 3 year old grandsons "love of all things clean and tidy". So armed with a squirty bottle, a roll of kitchen paper and his little toilet step, he did all of my inside windows (quite thoroughly I might add). He sings as he works too which is quite a bonus and refers to the "real" (outside) window cleaner as "my mate".

I am thinking of hiring him out at good rates if anyone is interested.

Oh, tegan, don't remind me about the shed and the "den"!

I've moved from the rat infested compost bins to the garden shed and I wish I hadn't started. I'm even washing flower pots [and thinking to myself as I'm doing it 'why am I washing flower pots ?']. It's now going to rain and everything is outside [old dog baskets; rusty golf clubs; broken garden tools [think they can be repaired]]. I'm also thinking 'why am I working on the garden when the house is disgusting' [it really is]. And I've got to start on the garage soon .

I'll get round to doing it...next year?

Erm - I already did it, quite some time ago actually. I'm very glad I did then because now it's all I can do to get up off the sofa. [cough, cough]

I do intend to do some spring cleaning, - eventually.

Last week my window cleaner left my front windows dirtier than before he started, and when I see him he'll get the sharp edge of my tongue!

My windows are those tiny Georgian ones............I don't like doing them either
