Blood test results

It is frightening, I know. In my own, not exactly the same, but similar, case, the appointments for the test are really quick, within days, in my case, so there is not a long time to worry.
These tests are to rule out cancer, and more often than not they do rule it out and you can stop worrying.
in the rare cases that cancer is found, treatment is so much more effective these days.
Be king to yourself while you wait.

No advice, but please be comforted by the fact that my DH has had three “cancer pathway” appointments in the last 18 months, all of which were negative.

I think sometimes it’s a way for the GP to hurry things along just in case.

A SIL of mine works in the cancer research industry and his professors have had a campaign running since Covid for medical professionals to err on the side of caution if cancer is even slightly possible.
The reason being that speed is of the essence for a successful outcome. Also, they were concerned that widespread use of sanitizing products during Covid would mean a possible rise in cancer in the future, especially amongst children.
Sounds like many GP's are taking this on board. Good luck with your tests. I wish you all the very best.

I don’t know about the cancer side of it but I’ve recently had investigations for raised liver function tests. It turns out that I have a benign cyst in my liver which is “irritating” it but I don’t need any treatment as it’s harmless. Hope you get a good result from your investigations.

Annanymous - fully understand your anxiety, but the Doctors do err on the side of caution. We’ve had a few ‘scares’ in our family. All turned out fine.
Don’t worry too much. I’m sure everything will be fine and worst case scenario, treatments have advanced so much, you will be in safe hands. Hope your results are good

Annanymous Last year routine blood tests showed my liver function was raised, my GP suspected myeloma and so ordered a raft of other tests. Like you, I had breast cancer 15 years ago so tests for secondaries were ordered too. Fortunately, all the tests were negative and a follow up blood test showed the liver function was back to normal. Hope this reassures you.

I have LFTs every year, and as often as not something is out of kilter, so I go back the following week and it's fine, and it's different things each time. Small things (eg whether you've had coffee that morning) can have an impact on the results, as the diagnostics are so finely tuned.

Try not to worry. The odds are high that you'll be fine.
