How old do you feel, and how old are you?

Now 81, grey hair, stuck with Rheumatoid arthritis & Osteo arthritis, AMD & Double vision lots of silly aches & pains but feeling clever today as I beat the snow to get my bins out for tomorrow. Plus I woke up alive this morning where a couple of dear friends have not for some time! So stick being 81 & ‘old’ where the sun dont shine ok?

I’m 79 this year but have a terminal disease so may not get there. I have a stair lift and use a rollator. However my mind is sharp. I can play difficult board games with all the family, can stay up late watching thrillers and following the plots. I travel abroad on my own, with full insurance and my trusted walker and meet fabulous strangers on my way. I swim sunbathe eat well an I cook every night for two people. I walk slower than I used to so probably look doddery but I’m told I look ten years younger than I am despite this dreadful disease for which there is no cure and no treatment. But there’s always lipstick!

I am 69 and not looking forward to 70.
Like most of you say I feel younger when the aches and pains aren't there.
If you mention these to a younger generation they zone them out as I guess it sounds boring to them or they can't relate.
Luckily my daughter is only 29 so she is great to have conversations with keeping up with technology, latest films and streaming, clothes etc But she is also aware of 80's music and plays it in her car.
I have a false illusion that I am younger than I am but it's not age specific and is definitely reliant on not being in pain. The sun shining helps

I'm 73, 74 in April. Sometimes I feel 90 other times 65. My friend is only 63 and there are times when I feel in better shape than she is. It depends on so many things.

I'm 71 and feel a lot younger, although I pulled my new washing machine from the front door to the kitchen and set it up. I also pulled the old one out and put it into my garden to be collected. Did the same with new/old fridge. I have taken 2 Brufen though to ward off the aches and pains I'm sure are waiting to pounce. Xx

During my life I’ve been through a few major issues. I’ve been lucky to have a good family and friends to help when needed. Every day I think I can’t keep going like this then slowly most days I manage to get around and think how lucky I am. I’m 74 but young in mind and interested in most things even if I can’t do much. It’s a bit of a shock to become one of the older generation but all in all I don’t mind one bit.

In my head I am 40 but my body is 75! Some days I feel my age, others I feel as fit as a fiddle. It all depends on how well I have slept. I am setting my self a two miles a day walking challenge to help Cancer Research. I struggled today as we have just been away to Northumberland for three nights where we did longer walks but slept badly and over indulged. So it is back to good food, better sleep and the routine classes, interests which I have. I am very lucky to be “ remarkably fit” according to my recent consultation with a gynaecologist. Never take your health for granted, it can all change in a flash.

I'm 72 and most of the time feel as i did in my mid-50s.I'm however aware that , at this older age, my health could go at any time. My previously highly robust OH at 80 has had health problems these past two years so I realise that if age can take him down , then it can take me down.
My eyesight bugs me the most. Spectacles: necessary annual checks for Glaucoma and nascent cataracts that will definitely need surgery sooner or later.
Most of the time I'm in denial about how near the edge of the cliff I am.
Try not to think about it and stay grateful and cheerful.

Like Sara1954 I am still working, look after the family, gardening and I am very lucky to feel ok and feel active.

As the saying goes 'age is just a number'! I am 90, heading towards 91. My DH died some years ago, so I live alone in a fairly isolated area on a Welsh mountain. i am 62 this year and feel ancient. i have a lot of illness' and MH problems to be honest so that does not help. if i went tomorrow it would not bother me to be honest.
on the other hand my OH is 68 this year and apart from a moan about his back now and again he is like a spring chicken! he even still does his dog walking business. he does have type 2 diabetes but seems to cope with that fine

I'm 68 and get a shock when I see my age on prescriptions as I feel early 50s at the most. Diagnosed with bowel cancer 4 years ago but haven't let that get in my way. How can the 70s be 50 years ago?

I'm 77yr ( where has the time gone) but due to constant illness I often feel very old and decrepid- well my body does. My mind and spirit are still young, about 30ish, and its so frustrating as I still want to do so many things and can't. Every morning I have plan of thingd I want to do, one or two may get done but not the rest. I'm learning to accept my limitations, if only my body moved as well as my mind--- I'll never do the cha cha again. I still enjoy life , thats the important thing.

I’m 75, and honestly don’t feel it, whatever it’s supposed to feel like, have very good health, obviously good genes, my parents lived well into their nineties, but I look after myself, eat well, gym regularly, am learning two languages, have a wonderful family, I’m thinking all these factors are helping my outlook on life and ageing, here’s to being 95😀

I feel Really old,I’m 67 but I’m not as good physically as my 90 year old neighbour, I retired ten years ago on ill health after a long career as a Mental Health professional
I suffer from spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy to name just a few, three years ago I fell and broke my ankle in three places, I had to have two operations on it and an ankle fusion and it’s still not right, although I’m in permanent pain I try to lead a relatively normal life which is sometimes difficult as I can’t walk far or stand for long
I try to remain positive but sometimes I just feel that the next stage is just to die and that upsets me at the thought of leaving my family
So to be so morbid

I'm 75, but being riddled with arthritis and now Sciatica (hopefully nothing worse) but not thoroughly diagnosed yet, I feel my age or significantly older! I try to distract myself from the pain and the grandchildren certainly help with that, hopefully changing my drugs will help too!

I’m 85 and feel in most ways as fit as a flea and my memory and ability to multitask are as they were 50 years ago, but loss of vision in the bottom of my eyes after a small stroke means that I can’t see what’s on the ground in front of me so that I walk almost bent double like a pantomime witch.

This has hugely affected my confidence. Driving had to stop overnight of course but I’m self-conscious about being seen out. I can only cross the road at zebra crossings and I can’t get off buses and trains unless there is a low level floor. My DH is frail and gave up driving last year. I tend to stay at home and read.

18 in my head but actually 76 as my body from time to time reminds me. Seriously though I do think it’s important to keep as active as you can. I do several classes at the gym.

I am 74 but most days feel much younger though my life is restricted by being a 24/7 carer. I am not able to have much of a social life and I am really a people person. BUT I try to carry on, better some days than others. My daughter thinks I am old, my son says get on with it Mum! Daughter thinks I can't drive! Plus it doesn't matter what age you are, the most important thing is not to relate your medical history every time you meet someone. I understand pain etc but please don't tell me your issues when my husband cannot be mobile at all, but we carry on.
I agree I wish my mind would let me know that I could move better. This week I went on a Carers walk and used a thumb stick for the first time and it really helped! So I think accept, adapt and keep smiling. I do not belittle anyone who is in so much pain etc. At the mo' this is how I am coping.

I’m 68, DH is 73, but fit due to where we live and the physical work he has to do around the place. We just built a snowman this afternoon! It’s good to give in to the child within sometimes!

I’m 74 and didn’t know I was old until several young, complete, strangers offered to carry my bag up a flight of stairs at a railway station where I was changing platforms to catch my connection. I felt even older when the female conductor on yet another train made a young man give up his seat so that I could sit down! I must look quite decrepit!
