I'm 76. Three years ago I was (unknowingly) chosen at random to have a mammogram after the age of 70, as part of a test group in my area. It showed an abnormality and I was recalled. I had another mammogram, an examination by a consultant and then a biopsy. After four worrying days, I was notified that all was well.
All that I could think was that I was so grateful to have been selected, as if anything had been amiss, it would have been caught early, and treatable...
I've put a reminder on my calendar to book a mammogram every three years - and I would urge everyone over the age of 70 to do so. My last one came back clear, so fingers crossed for this years' in November..😃😞
