Have you tried taking Turmeric capsules for the inflammation?

Ibuprofen can cause terrible ulcers, it’s best to take it sparingly.

I think the danger of ibuprofen should be better advertised.

You shouldn't take ibuprofen if you're asthmatic.

I thought you couldn’t take gaviscon with Omeprazole, you might want to check this out.

You take gaviscon with omeprazole, my husbands specialist told him to take the gaviscon first, then the capsule.

Wiki tells us that an upper GI bleed occurs in 50 to 150 per 100,000 adults per year. Peptic ulcers are the main cause.

A number of medications are found to cause upper GI bleeds. NSAIDs or COX-2 inhibitors increase the risk about fourfold. SSRIs, corticosteroids, and anticoagulants may also increase the risk.

I don't know how frequently stomach haemorrhages occur .
I would have thought that the constant pain would alarm most people .
I think that some of us know that something is very wrong ,but are afraid to face up to it .
I'm only sorry that when I saw my mother gulping down Gaviscon - I didn't insist on doing something .
But she was very difficult about accepting advice .
I could not get her to stop smoking and she developed COPD .

None of us have xray vision to know what's causing your indigestion.
Best to keep "in the loop" rather than battle on your own.

People may say go to the Doc and don't ask on here but some of us need the reassurance from others, friends and those who have had similar experiences that it is a serious
condition.

I was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia after a chest X-ray for a persistent cough.
The lamoprazole I am on gives me terrible wind and headaches. I have never noticed acid reflux.

Perhaps I should go back to the GP.

A near worse case scenario occurred in my family.
My mother drank bottles of Gaviscon to alleviate a constant burning sensation .
My father found her unconscious having vomited up blood .
She had had a massive stomach haemorrhage from taking Ibuprofen and nearly died as she sank into a coma .
It was touch and go - it was a miracle that she recovered .

A friend of mine had to be put into an induced coma.She had a stomach ulcer as a result of taking ibuprofen without omeprazole to protect her tummy. I think the danger of ibuprofen should be better advertised.

I do feel for you ziggy I’ve had reflux for many years not helped by meds that I have to take. I do think though you have to get proper medical help as none of us have got the medical knowledge to help although I understand how you would like advice from others.

It does sound like you need a full medication review - what suited you previously might not be that case now. Contact your GP, they're the professionals after all.

I take Gaviscon with Famotidine, both prescribed for acid reflux caused by a hiatus herniated.
Ziggy I would have a chat with your pharmacist who may well identify the issue prior to, but including, a GP appointment.

Looking at my poor, poor old mum, I'd say it's feasible, and I'm sure a doc at one time said it, too.

MissA - you may be right. My curvature is not too pronounced. Perhaps that’s why I don’t have too many problems.

Scoliosis can lead to problems with your "innards" though, if it's severe enough, I think.

Ziggy62 - I am a bit interested, because you say you have arthritis and scoliosis. I too have scoliosis. I don’t consider scoliosis an illness . It’s a curvature of the spine and doesn’t cause me any pain. I have arthritis in my right knee and take anti-inflammatories for that. Perhaps I mis-read your post.

Once mine is in full swing, even a drink of water can be excruciating.
Yes though, bread, pastry, cheese, tomato soup, alcohol, bananas - they're all bad for me.

I took myself off omeprazol because I was getting terrible indigestion and now I just take a spoonful of gaviscon advance at night before I go to sleep.. I talked to a pharmacist about it..
