I was called back after my first mammogram, like you I was scared and very stressed. I had a biopsy and was told I had a lot of cysts. They recorded the location of the cysts which are still there.

Excellent news! Thank you for letting us know. I still think you should get help with the anxiety though...

I just re-read my post and want to apologise for making it a bit "about me".

Obviously I was one of the "lucky" ones. I want to just say to all those of you still in treatment/recovery that I do hope your progress is steady and the end results positive.
I hope you are all in a stable place emotionally and have a "plan" that you can work with.

I have just seen this thread and feel like I was back 20+ years when a terrible breast cancer scare happened to me. I had 5 children and the idea of them not having a mother was desperate. In my case it took six whole weeks of tests/scans etc as I had a very bad experience with one hospital and changed hospitals and consultant at the point of surgery. Your story is also a roller-coaster and I have wept for you reading it.


The emotional toll was devastating when this happened to me as I was determined not to tell the children until I had a definite plan I could be happy with....
My poor husband carried us all gently and lovingly for that six weeks whilst trying to be "normal" - and managing his own fears.
(😍 I am SO lucky to have him.)

Mine was not cancer after all. It was a blocked milk duct! I would have had unnecessary surgery if I hadn't been so determined to get a second opinion.
My doctor was no use when I was distressed.

The take-away for me is to try to cherish every day, to truly remember the good in the people who love us , and to tell them how and why we love them.

Lucyloo, I am so glad you have posted, I have been wondering how you were getting on. I am in the same position, except that the excised lump unexpectedly showed grade 3, but completely removed and lymph nodes clear. I am due RT soon, one 5-day week followed by another boosted week.

That's great news, Mumoftwinboys. I'm not surprised you dropped the phone or whatever to the doctor! Enjoy a small glass of something to celebrate.
I had been thinking of you. Coincidentally I had my results today in the post, the same as lemsip, no sign of cancer. I was surprised, but happy, as usually I am recalled for more films and an ultrasound. We can all be thankful for the breast screening programme.

And breathe! What a relief. I went through similar. I have a breast “mouse” seemingly which is benign.

Just read your message.... so pleased you are OK. I hope others in the same situation find some help in all the advice given.

I had a routine mammogram in September... another mammogram 3 weeks later with biopsy which came back as cancer. 2 weeks later I had a wide excision of the cancer as a lumpectomy, this conserves the breast, and 4 lymph nodes removed. They know which nodes to remove using a magtrace... its an amazing way of telling which nodes the cancer will head for... if caught in time having the nodes removed will stop the cancer going elsewhere. Today I went to my follow up.... all the cancer has been removed, lymph nodes were clear. I am so pleased to say that without that mammogram I would not have known I had cancer as the cancer was not palpable. The mammogram caught the cancer really early. I know you will worry all the way through but, even if there is a worse outcome, you have a great chance of everything turning out well because of early detection. I now am going for 5 days of radiotherapy and then hormone treatment with annual mammograms. My way of coping was to go to sleep or keep really busy. Hi ladies, I had a phone call a wee while ago . It's good news it was completely healthy breast tissue. I do have some cysts but the bit they biopsied was totally normal tissue.

I am relieved beyond words. When the Doctor called I near had a heart attack and I must have sounded like a complete looney on the phone. I was over breathing and sobbing with releif then cut her off by mistake. I had to take a valium to calm me down after.
