Revitive machine

We have a very old machine, it probably doesn’t do any permanent good but can be excellent for tight muscles and cramp.

Brilliant for my night cramps. Used it a lot when I first got it, now only need a monthly session

Seeing very well-off celebrities advertising makes me cross too, mostly because there are struggling actors out there who would love to have the chance to make adverts in order to pay the bills.

Would I be persuaded to buy anything because Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Ian Botham, some pop star, whoever are advertising them? No, I'd be less likely to buy the products.

(George Clooney might be the exception 😁)

The machine doesn’t seem to have done much to help Ian Botham, or Eamonn Holmes, who previously advertised them. It’s a big no from me.

I'm a GP...sorry but these gadgets are the modern equivalent of" snake oil ".
They can't possibly do anything apart from fleece you for a vast amount of cash.
Just because celebrities advocate them doesn't mean they work.

I get stiff joints, especially my hips and knees but have always walked/rambled and even though my OH and I take longer now we still try to do a good walk every day and occasionally several miles.
It helps reduce the stiffness and keeps us fit.
Not sure about the machine, I think if you have mobility issues it will probably help otherwise I think a good walk would be just as good and is completely free - well except for the pub lunch that is.

I had a leg massage many years ago and ended up with a terrible rash all over my legs and slightly on my trunk. It started off looking like chickenpox then turned to measles. GP immediately started testing for meningitis until I queried if it had anything to do with the massage. Big, big Yes. I had no circulatory issues but yes, the massage had caused the rash. Take care.

I have one and find that it definitely works for me. Using it twice daily means that I rarely need to take painkillers for the arthritis in my knees or the sciatica that I used to suffer from regularly

My DH uses his every day, he has had a stroke and is type 1 diabetic. I won't say he is running around but it keeps the circulation in his legs flowing and when he has his diabetic check up his pulses in his feet are good. We have the Essential Revitive machine not the dearer model, it is only £169 on Amazon.

The machine is for circulation but for the knees etc. you use pads and they need replacing every so often.
When using the machine you have to remove your socks and need to put cream on the soles of your feet. Makes you feel cold in Winter!

It’s a big old publicity stunt with Holmes and Botham I m sure if you do that the you can walk your aches away or even sit in your chair doing simple exercises It’s a LOT of money

You cannot use one if you have a pacemaker.

I tried it for a couple of months but it didn’t do anything for me.
On the other hand my husband swears by it and says he notices the difference when he’s used it. We’ve had ours for three or four years

He used it daily at first, and thought it helped his 'tired' legs, these days it's used much less, although he says he feels better when he has used it.

You should not use one if you have had a joint replacement. It will loosen the cement over time.

I had very sore legs/feet after being diagnosed with Diabetes a few years ago and bought a Revitive. I found it an absolute game changer. The pain went almost instantly.
It’s not suitable for some conditions, but for my diabetic feet it’s made such a difference.

Is this the one advertised by Sir Ian Botham?

I've never understood the point of the advert; it shows a man (Ian) walking three dogs across a field and two women wondering how he does it. The answer is, apparently, that he uses a Revitive machine.

Surely it's the dog walking that is keeping his legs fit and it's people unable to do much walking or exercise who may need the machine?

I used mine for a bit. Now I have had a total knee replacement it is on the shelf. I think a pedal set in front of ones arm chair to cycle whilst watching TV is more useful.

My DH uses his which was recommended by a podiatrist . Perhaps if you go for one appointment with a podiatrist you coukd ask them if tge.y think they will be beneficial for you ? If you buy one theres a number to ring and I must say theyre very helpful and you can return it if you dont get any benefit.

I’ve been tempted to buy one for ages. But the one I wanted which was for bad knees I can’t buy because I have varicose veins. From working in the NHS I’m so aware of how bad circulation can cause problems in later life and I’m not getting the exercise I used to get because of my knee.

I have osteoarthritis in both knees diagnosed. I the medic knee Revitive is a godsend to me.
