Why do only women go to Pilates?

Mr A and I go to Pilates class together. He is one of 3 men (+ 7 women) who attend. It’s run by a practising physiotherapist, trained in Pilates.

I advise you do not go to Hot Pilates. My niece has ripped (not sure which) tendons/muscles and has been told by her consultant that she should not on any account go to Hot Pilates because she will cause further damage. She is in her early fifties so clearly older people should not be attending Hot Pilates.

There's just one man in my yoga class and his wife drags him there weekly !
I don't know about the Pilates class - there are lots at Tai Chi .

My husband does Pilates several times a week and has done so for years. He is not the only male.

There are 3 men known my pilates class.

I know a man of 96 (he doesn't look it) who goes to one on one pilates sessions.

As with most groups not just pilates although a few men go they are predominantly women there. I always try to make sure the men feel included and welcome.

No men in my daughters group

We have a couple of men at our class one of which is DH. And my DS has just qualified to teach Pilates after qualifying as a yoga teacher last year.

There are men in my Pilates class, too.

Don't worry about being the only man (you probably won't be). I go to a couple of classes each week and there have been men in both. Pilates is really good for keeping us strong, supple and fit, just check out the instructor, I prefer one with a physio background. Instructor should also get you to do a proper medical form so they know about anything that might be an issue and will adapt exercises for you if you have a particular injury or difficulty. I'm mid 70's and recently spent two weeks in hospital following a riding accident. Most of the nurses etc commented on my physical strength and it really helped with my recovery. Good luck with finding a good class and enjoy.

A friend goes to a Pilates class, men and women.

Mr J does a weekly Pilates class and both Men and Women attend.
