Anyone here have NHS dentures? help please

My NHS ones were great.
Even the dentist forgot they were in, sometimes, they were such a good match in tooth and gum colour.

Sadly, the new one I got recently, having waited since lockdown to see a dentist, was awful.

I say "was" because I have lost it!

After being in an accident, a family member has had a NHS partial denture for years. Since they put in the denture immediately after removing the damaged teeth, I imagine the gums do shrink after the trauma of removal, but her first denture lasted for ages.

I was just thinking, it wasnt so much the denture this time, it is that I need roots extracted, and have some broken stumps, but the dentist made a denture and put it in, without doing any of that stuff.

I have no idea why, and like a fool I allowed it instead of asking what on earth he was doing.

I hope it goes well for you. My DSis lost front teeth and was incredibly pleased to have a partial denture for them.

My first set, I think, couldnt have been better if I had been a private patient.

Perfect fit, needed no fixation, and took up hardly any space in my mouth.

I had them for around 8 years or so, until they snapped in half on the first day of lockdown!

Mind you, they were only ever meant to be temporary.

So you don't wear a denture now? if you lost it? this denture also has to go in between a bridge and another crowned tooth, I am so worried about this

I haven't got one at the moment, which I hate, but it is mostly back teeth, with 2 at the bottom front.

I rarely go out, so that kind of allows me some grace, but I need to work out my next move, because I only had three new ones for about two weeks before I lost them!

No doubt i will be charged to replace them, and rightly so, but this time i want my teeth dealt with first, which I'm not really happy to pay for, and can't afford.

I have full dentures (since age 11 ). I have always had NHS with no problems. Having had them so young, I have always been self conscious about them. For my last set I went to a private state of the art 'posh' dentist having seen adverts for lovely natural looking teeth. I was royally ripped off. Beware.

All of it worries me, the fact that it is complex, does not fit right, can't get it in or out, people finding out..the list goes on

They're all valid concerns.
Maybe take a day off from work/family, or any other commitments, so you can practice getting them in and out, check they don't rub anywhere, and that you can eat while wearing them.

I felt the same: I had quite a phobia, almost, of dentures, and was devastated to realise i needed them.

You do adapt, though, honestly.

Hi, how are you doing ?

I’m about to lose a lower back molar, and it currently stands alone at the very back, as I lost the one next to it a few years ago. I’m wondering about getting a denture for the very back two lower molars..what do those of you with bottom denture experience think? Grateful for opinions as this is all new to me.
