Hope It's Not Cancer.

I had a post meno bleed six years ago. Saw gynae who took a biopsy and had scan which showed a thick lining to the womb. I had been on Ovestin for years and think I was just unlucky that it gave me a thick lining after so many years. Biopsy came back OK so had Mirena coil inserted. He removed this last year after five years. He suggested continuing Ovestin although it makes me a bit nervous even though he did reassure me. He suggested using it twice a week for three months, stopping for three months, and then re starting.

Same here. I had one, the procedure was OK and all found to be norma. You’ll be fine, don’t worry.

I also had a couple of very heavy post menopausal bleeds over a period (!) of time which needed checking. Think it’s quite common . Try not to worry. Easy to say but chances are all will be well. Good luck

DD has been having investigations for two years and had not received a definite diagnosis until last week when she was seen by a young female gynaecologist. A brief examination revealed cervical erosion, how come they didn't pick up on it when they did a hysteroscopy ?
I can understand your concern.

I had a post menopause bleed years after the menopause.
Eventually diagnosed as "the last hurrah of my ovaries" 😳. Apparently not much written about in the medical journals but more common than you might expect. VERY worrying though - until we knew.

beautybumble try not to worry until you have something to worry about..Look at it this way they are looking after you. And if there is anything wrong you will get treatment. It's hard I know as our minds always think the worse . But our NHS is wonderful and I always prefer to know what's wrong.

Took me until last year to finally know what's been wrong with me my whole life.due to moving over 100 miles to the north west and my new neurologist had my whole genome genetically tested. Mind you him had my blood sent off in January 2020 but because of Covid didn't get the results until March last year. Also in 2020 found out I was born with a hole in my heart. Had to laugh had 2 minor and 3 major operations all with a dicky heart. But my out look is better late than never . I am now 65.

I have had exactly the same symptoms.
A hysteroscopy was done within 3 weeks of me going to my GP. A biopsy was taken at the same time which turned out to be clear.
The consultant who did the hysteroscopy was brilliant, telling me what she could see and what her diagnosis was. She recommended changing the HRT which I have been on for over 20 years. I have been referred to the Menopause Clinic.

Please try not to worry and as Theexwife has said, any treatment will happen very quickly. It’s good that you have not ignored the bleeding.

Same here. Post menopausal bleeding which turned out to be polyps. No problems since.
I know you can't help worrying, naturally, but it's probably something similar to what lots of us have had.

I had a heavy post-menopause bleed, it also was polyps. I know it is worrying, however, there is more chance that this is not cancer, whatever it is you have acted swiftly and the hysteroscopy will tell you more and any treatment that is needed will happen quickly.

Mine was on and off for a few years menopausal in between I had a few ops polyps fibroids etc. Of course you will be worried but be assured the staff will put you at ease. Hope it goes well for you try not to worry too much.

Yes, I had irregular /heavy bleeding round about the menopause. Was examined internally and found that I had polyps. Nothing was done about because polyps shrink after the menopause. I think that’s what they said. No trouble since. Hope things work out ok for you …

I don’t think doctors or hospitals are very good at allaying fears but it’s probably because they can’t say ‘it’s not cancer’ and any sort of bleeding obviously has to be investigated to rule it out. I had several months of having investigations because of post menopausal bleeding which turned out to be nothing to worry about. Which usually covers most cases. It’s good that they are so thorough, but it doesn’t help with the worrying, especially if you’re a ‘worst case scenario’ like me! x
