HVDY I thought you must be young, you are so active. I'm 72, I'm the oldest niece. I'm closer in age to the aunts, I feel really odd calling them aunt or auntie.
EllieAnne visitors won't notice things about the house. They're more interested in the company. And I'm sure people will offer to help. Enjoy the party.x

Had a dreadful night but have overcome the worst bits. I never leave the house but in the car you see, its my safe space to get out, and in the past Ex dealt with car stuff. Felt so alone with something over gigantic in the night.

So I spent an hour and a half this morning phoning garages so’s to find out exactly what was going on - knowledge means I can do something not get stuck in passive fear. It’s going to be demanding because it will mean 2 days energy and going across town for particular test equipment to fix, but at least I can use it locally in the meantime. But oh dear BD’s is is going to cost nearly £500 in the end - its labour costs for tests.

I also have been to the gym for a short session without twigging back thanks to the anti-inflammatories. Which ave left me with bowel stuff feel queasy after eating quite often but oh so reassuring that I went. I do have a referral to gastroenterology but low expectations of timing or help.

Yes HVDY I am going to get together deliveries for both meds and food if I can.

Im not really in contact at all with nephews and nieces, just news via sibs and BiL. But thats completely normal for my family, I never got to know my cousins or even grandparents and Aunts on Dad’s side. Christmas card level for my cousins with newsy letter on my mums side and not a clue on Dad’s side. Except knowing some exist. Families are just all very different, aren't they? It doesnt bother me, just my sis, bro, and son' and family.

Definitely an afternoon for the duvet.

Wyllow- glad the counselling went well- yes you need lots of rest but you also need to do your Gym stuff and swimming.It’s getting the balance right that is difficult isn’t it.
Deliveries will help you- you can book timed slots so you don’t have to wait in unnecessarily. You won’t have a limited life but a different one that hopefully will improve both your physical and mental health.Keep seeing your Gym buddies and your Quaker friends - human contact of all kinds is so important for our well being. Just rest when you need to - it must be a very difficult condition to live with . You are right there are no magic solutions but there IS light at the end of your tunnel.
SweetPeaSue- hope the bandage makes you feel a bit more confident using your knee. It should fit under your jeans unless they are really skinny ones!!
Good you have another MH appt organised and with continuity of person too. Perhaps they will be able to tell you how they plan to help,you.
Doodle- hope at Mondays appt they are pleased with your progress - and may adjust the physio involved.

EllieAnne- Don’t worry about the cake or the food for yourGS party - he will love it all and everyone loves him so try and relax and enjoy it as much as you can.
HVDY- No never had a steroid injection - shoulder discomfort quite recent but it has made crunches and cracks for a long time. It’s probably wear and tear as I sometimes forget how old I am -you by the way are a mere youngster - not many years older than my daughter!!

I too find that although I love to do it chatting does tire me out sometimes- in fact lots of things do. I hope you are having a nice visit with your family- lovely to have Aunties still.

I had a nice chat with my sister this morning and we are going to see her in August. It’s so long since we have seen her and I was so scared when she was poorly- can’t wait to give her a big hug.
Today I popped into Tescos and they had the Xmas sweetie tubs in !!

Wyllow I’m much the same. Never had much to do with cousins and probably wouldn’t know them if I saw them.
Only sister died at 54 which was difficult but though we got on ok I can’t say we were terribly close.
I get on ok with dh s family but they live hundreds of miles away so we don’t see them. He might phone an odd time if it’s a birthday or Christmas ( I send them cards) but that’s all.
My children and grandchildren are all that matter .

Oh, Scardeycat, how good to hear your news that you are going to see your sis next month. How long it must feel you've waited for this! We all really thought she might not make it at one point I recall. Will you stay with them or in nearby hotel?

(you "see" me very well, spot on as in deliveries and cutting life down to healing basics.

( Stuff with the car really shakes me to core, am so dependant on it. I won't really feel at ease till its done..just dread having to travel to the strange bit of town to get it done etc etc...should know more around Tuesday)

It's such a hassle getting the car fixed and expensive too. I hope you get sorted soon. Well done on getting to the gym as well. Hope you're not too tired.
Delivery of food is very helpful, but we find ordering and collecting is good too and cheaper, and usually available next day.

How lovely to be going to visit your sister Scaredycat. I'm sure you can't wait. I had a lovely time thanks, but tired now.
My mum didn't keep in touch with her family very much, but I have made an effort to get to know them. We had great chat and my aunt had a lovely afternoon tea set out in the dining room.

Wyllow3 DH has his meds delivered. He uses Pharmacy2U. Like you. I didn't get to know cousins - Dad fell out with his brother and 2 sisters when I was about 9, so we didn't see any of that side of the family, still don't (aunts and uncles gone now), and Mum's sister and her husband moved house a lot because he was in the forces. Mum's brother was lovely, never married or had a family. You'll be glad to get your car sorted out. We do depend on them.

ScaredyCat Glad you'll be visiting your sister soon. There was a time when you thought she wouldn't make it. Glad she seems to be getting on well. I hate the pressure of Christmas, so early. A friend of mine told me she's already got gifts for me (I was hoping to have said I only wanted to buy for children this year - her son is 9, and it's his birthday at the end of December as well)

Ellie Anne I'm like you, my sons and grandchildren are the only ones who matter. I've got a brother (12 years older), as I've mentioned on here, and although I care about him, I don't actually like him at all (A whole list of reasons why not). I like his wife, though, always have.

Busy day today. Been tidying up because someone is coming to spring clean for me Monday. 🤣 I don’t want them to think the flat is dirty. Been sorting through drawers and cupboards throwing out stuff haven’t used for years.
nadateturbe your appointment system with the Gp spunds quite effective. Can’t really complain about ours either but I know we’re lucky. Hope the visit to your aunt and cousins went well. Do they live near you? I probably have more cousins than I realise but my mums family was split up after her mum died when she was nine so we never found out what happened to them.
I’m older than you. I have one nephew and he does call me auntie but very younger in cheek. I call him nephew too in a similar manner. There’s only 13 years between us.
Wyllow my hairdresser is a lovely chap. Built like a rugby player but we have a good laugh.
Oh I’m sorry about your car. That is a lot. Will they definitely be able to fix it for that amount? I can understand the safety factor of being in your car. In your own bubble.
You are right about families. Some are very close including cousins and second cousins etc. I suppose a lot depends if the parents of the cousins, brothers and sister are close or not.
Glad you managed the gym. Hope your system gets used to the anti-inflammatoires and settles down.
Just a thought about your car. If you are so concerned about driving across town could you ask them if someone could come and collect it?
Oh Ellie Anne I’m the same. I’m hopeless at catering and get flustered. Could you buy some ready prepared stuff. I’m sure the cake will be fine and your DGS will love it.
Do you try and hide from your family how unhappy you are living with your DH? I’m sure with the party going in and the birthday boy being there people will be too busy to notice anything.

HVDY no, no plans for the weekend just tidying up. Not much activity in the river this weekend as the weather isn’t good. Did see a party boat going past earlier with lots of people dressed up. Shame it’s not a nicer day for them.

Scaredycat do you get your food online? We started doing that during lockdown and have carried on most weeks since then. We found after lockdown it as too tiring going to the shop and hauling all that food back , out of the car and up to our flat, I like having it delivered. The only snag is I don’t get to choose my own fruit and veg.

HVDY I'm another that hates the Christmas pressure but really-does anyone want to think of Christmas right now? Suppose there must be others like your friend too. I think many will find the financial side of it so difficult this year. Don't think our Surgery does double appts but I might dare to ask for one next time Ive more than 1 thing. Or, like Doodle ask for 2 separate appts (yikes!) but think I know answer will be to join phone queue next morning, which means staying in whole day waiting for the call.
Scaredycat My jeans are skinny style-though not the ultra skin. They pulled over but quite uncomfortable - make 1 knee much fatter than other.
Seeing yiur DS next month so lovely for you and something to look forward to. It helps if something good ahead. Yes saw the sweet tubs in Tesco today.😩🤷. It'll be mince pies next.
EllieAnneI can see how the atmosphere must feel even worse to you when other people there. I understand it could make you uncomfortable, but perhaps adults will be more concerned with the children than noticing anything else. Sure your cake will be just fine and your little GS will love it. So sorry you lost your sister so v young. That must be so hard. My sisters are v different in nature to myself.

Nadateturbe Sounds like all our bedside drawers or tables are alike. I was always fascinated with my mum's 'corner' by her chair in living room. So much stuff, now I'm catching up. So sorry, I cant see your post on prev page. I'll come back.

Appt today was good and with Nurse Practitioner. Metronidazole for waist and Betamethasone(not spelt right) for lower back. Thinks could be stress related as all body feels itchy at times-dont think shes really sure but makes sense as get agitated and think can set off cycle of scratch/itch. I asked her about a few things(she works for another surgery) which she says its lossible to pre book appts ahead. We can't do this at our surgery. A new one on her though was us having to buy our own urine sample bottles. We've had to do this for about 7yrs. Think the Pharmacy attatched to surgery must make money out of it at 75p a bottle!

Doodle Truth is I'm scared of being a nuisance at surgery as have had so many issues since op went wrong. I noticed at other town's surgery today they had own physio. There's another Surgery around 4ml away that we could switch to aswell. Though I like Dr I had callback with on Tuesday he's bound by the surgery's rules.
Hope you can get some helpful info on how your wrist is progressing on
Monday. I'm afraid I find it really difficult to give up chocolate. Have always liked it and had a sweet tooth. I'm not sure it works as an 'energy bar' though! 😂

Doodle I'd be like yourself if I had cleaner coming, I just know it. I have some ckusins on my mum's side of fam but not close. My mam's sis, aunt I 'm close to, has 2 girls my age but we're not in touch much. Never knew Grandparents on Dad' s side as theyd died before I was born.

My children definitely know but never acknowledge it. Dd thinks I should appreciate what I have (1 do) but it doesn’t really help. She works with people with REAL issues and I suppose unhappiness doesn’t count. One d in l understands but she has had a difficult early life which has left scars. She still struggles with mh . But is very happy with son 2 and both are completely besotted with the wee one. My gds are coming too . Haven’t seen them for a few weeks. Just hope son 1 is in a good mood. He can be very grumpy!

SweetpeaSue That's the correct spelling. It's a steroid. Metronidazole is an antibiotic (I've had it many times as I'm allergic to Penicillin). Hope the treatment works.

Doodle I'd be the same. I'd love to have a cleaner, just to do the bits I find a chore - ironing, cleaning windows, skirtings and tops of doors. We were meant to be sorting through cupboards and getting rid of stuff (including lots of LPs). We've done nothing . I don't feel young!

DH is watching some crummy Superman film , which I hate. I'm just cooking Foxy's dinner, then I might look online for a good broadband deal, as our contract is up soon x

I'm very bunged up with anti inflammatories added to existing bowel stuff so waiting for phone call from Docsis for advice I clearly need to change routine - I cant eat more than small bits as it hurts..

Wyllow Oh that's really painful for you. Hope your sis can help. Its so v difficult to keep a balance of 'gut action' when on meds that bung up and laxative softeners. Ive been caught out this week too. x

Must go back to tinned prunes everyday breakfast oh the delights. Yes Sis said add such and such.

Wyllow3 My brother often tells me about his bowels (nice), and he has tinned prunes. I haven't (yet) ever had constipation. I must be lucky in that way.

The fox was there at 10.30 last night - 6 chicken drumsticks and a jam sandwich, and he took them all .

It's yet another wet and grey morning. Another day of being indoors, then. Hope all BDers manage to have a decent day. x

Not a lot to say today but physically my pain is so much less. So it feels totally ungrateful of me to have this low mood. Really bad dreams again of being alone which caused me to wake DH by shouting out.
Weather is bleak, chill and v wet. Have to sew up seams of baby jckt which Id better do as it's been hanging over me for some days.

HVDY Its curious about rash. I have none under bust and I dont think on my waist it is fungal. Think the nurse might be mistaken and I might have led her to that conclusion cos I mentioned one I had last summer. Anyway I can't go through phoning up again so Ill use cream for a few dys and if dont see improvement will use the betnovate one instead.
