Dull pain in eye, now bloodshot

I get this from time to time. In my case it is a burst blood vessel usually caused by violent coughing or sneezing. It clears up within a few days. You should probably get it checked by your GP or optician.

Have it checked heavenleigh, a pharmacist, optician or practitioner at your surgery could advise. It’s probably nothing to worry about, but sight is precious and best not to take a risk.

are you near a large city with an eye clinic, they often have a walk-in facility.
in london it's moorfields or the western eye hosp on marylebone rd.
but i was told there that a they call a red eye a black n blue, ie it's usually a bruise, often caused by coughing/sneezing, and will resolve in time.
but if you have other symptoms or are worried maybe seek medical advice.
optician might be a good place to start, esp at the moment with such pressures on nhs.

As others have said it is probably nothing to worry about but it might be best to get it checked at an optician in the first instance. They can then refer you to an eye clinic if necessary.

I have a friend who frequently has this and can feel in advance when it is going to happen.

I often get it, don’t know why or how, but it fades after a couple of days. It hadn’t occurred to me to get it checked out.

Check if your local hospital has an Eye Casualty department and contact them. Probably not serious but the advice is to always check where eyes are concerned.

Any optician will check it out for you, regardless if you are a customer or not.
My DIL is an optician and sent me to to see someone ASAP.

Better to be on the safe side and let an optician have a look. It’s probably nothing, but they will give you the best advice.

Try an optician and/or eye hospital; ring for triage. Your GP (does such a thing exist anymore?) will be no use whatsoever.

You shouldn't need an appointment, you can just walk in in these cases.
Since Covid, rules have changed for pharmacies and opticians.

You need a diagnosis now, not in 2 weeks time. As many others have said, it may be nothing but you need a diagnosis asap.
