I can understand why people would use them- but I feel it is a real shame we are losing all our independent pharmacies. Our local ones are now part of chains, whereas until not that long ago, we had a chemist/pharmacist who was independent and knew everyone, and had great contact with the local surgeries.

If we all use on-line services, even the chains will go. A great pity imho.

I can see why people would use this service. We are both in our early 70s I rarely drive if ever because of the state of the roads where we live. We live a 12-mile round trip to a pharmacy or the doctor's. When DH cannot drive because of health issues the tablets we both need are left at the Pharmacy who do not deliver. I am looking at the present for one that will.
This service is vital if you do not live in a town and should actually be expanded.

Lloyds Pharmacy is good in that you get a text or email to say it is due and they will send it, you don't have to do anything yourself. It is delivered by Royal Mail.

The only con is that some medication cannot be sent through the post and have to be collected.

We use Pharmacy 2 U and it's great, they send you an email reminder before your script is due, you have to order online (via Patient Access or GP system), they will email you to confirm it has been accepted and then email you when it is despatched and you will receive it via Royal Mail.

I get my regular stuff with Pharmacy 2U, no problem at all. No need to ring, just order on line each month. They send a reminder when it's due, and a link so it's easy.

My daughter has this and her scrips are always late. We tried it at first but the local pharmacy is better and they have a Medipoint machine outside so you collect your script from there at any time of the day or night. Just reordered my shopping list on my phone and will pick it all up tomorrow. What with the postal strikes you may be waiting some time.
