Arthritis in neck

When my mum first mentioned her arthritis pain I was sympathetic but only now understand quite how painful it can be.

I have arthritis in my spine which extends up to my neck . I've had lots of physio which I personally don't think helps much. Pain killers , rest and heat help me get through the day.

I went to a physio for a problem in my shoulder but first he spotted a neck problem, and a few simple movements put it right straightaway.
Unfortunately, it has come back now, not helped by spending too much time on my laptop. It is arthritis.

I have the same, it is far worse when I lay down. The exercises helped to some extent, for me, I have to remember not to stay in one position for too long. It is bad today as I was chatting to someone yesterday and hadn’t noticed I had sat in the same position for an hour.

I sometimes have neck and shoulder discomfort but it has improved greatly since I invested in a natural latex pillow.

I have the same condition - visits to an osteopath about every 4-6 weeks help a lot, as well as a weekly pilates class (basic).

I had physiotherapy and acupuncture for my neck and spine arthritis some years ago. It was a help but it wore off after a while. I cannot take any pain relief because it caused kidney disease so I I was told by the doctor.
I do the exercise I was shown and it does seem to help the situation its something I have learnt to live with. I also think non contact heat pads help and scarves in winter.

Frankly Liz46, I find Physio and Chiropractic treatment are fine for acute problems, such as sports injury etc. But they are not very successful when it comes to chronic conditions such as Arhritis. I was told sometime ago that anything that ends with ‘‘tis’ is suggestive of an inflammation.
Yes,I do get neck pain occasionally. I take 2 ibuprofen tablets….job done. It helps relieve the inflammation and the pain
