Vaginal Atrophy

Please try not to worry. Many reasons for the blood! Yes GP, is your best option.

(I was concerned about sudden soreness, a few weeks ago, until I remembered that they'd substituted my usual loo roll. It must have perfume or bleach - to which I'm allergic.)

Don't be scared, but do see the doctor again. After so many years without a period it is worrying to see blood.

I'm 64 and also had a bleed about four years ago, I was sent for an ultrasound. I was also diagnosed with vaginal atrophy.

Priestbridge I'm sorry to hear that. There can be many different reasons for postmenopausal bleeding, such as polyps and fibroids. Atrophy can also cause bleeding too.

Please do see a doctor for further investigation to help determine a more definite cause for the bleed.

priestbridge, please don't be too alarmed. You wouldn't panic if you had a nosebleed, (would you?) - and it could be something similar, just a burst capillary.

You may have a UTI or even just a scratch, so make a routine appointment with your GP and follow it up, but do stop worrying.

You need to see a doctor.
You might make a simple urinary infection.
