SweetpeaSue I know. I've suggested he rings 111 but he won't. He's stubborn, though. I used to help him and his wife 4 afternoons a week, until I was ill last year. He can afford to pay to see someone privately, about his hernia, but he refuses to spend any money. How are you today? x

Doodle Aqua Aerobics was good yesterday, thanks. Went straight home afterwards. Should have done Zumba Gold this morning, but was faffing about trying to get something sorted out about my brother. I'm going to call in and see him on Friday (although he hasn't been to my house for 18 months) x

It's absolutely dreadful the way medical care is going right now. HVDY You're poor brother. The whole system is falling apart. Same here and everywhere now.

How is every this morning (I was in touch quite a bit with SweetpeaSue yesterday and the few days previously)?

I rang my brother's GP surgery at dead on 8am when it opened - was 22nd in the call queue! How's that, when they'd just that minute opened? Waited and waited, for 40 minutes then got through to someone, told her about his hernia (in the groin, which is where his prosthetic leg reaches) and how much pain he's in. No appointments until the end of next week. No GP was available to ring my brother. After reiterating the fact that he's the carer for his wife who's got Alzheimer's, I was told someone will ring him tomorrow. I'm sympathetic, but I tried to tell him ages ago to get this sorted out. Oh well, I can't do anything else now. That particular surgery is abysmal, they had a CQC rating of "inadequate", so got replaced a lot of the staff there and yet it's still hopeless.

Sorry, I meant the comment about how Gastroenterologist'manner from previous patients. It was first time I'd seen 1.

After being so afraid of going to A&E, at advice from GPS as I've been in so much pain I've now gone 3 times. Last time Bank Hol Mon. Gave anti sickness drug, morphine discharged. Don't tick boxes for emergency. Had disastrous appt with Gastro yesterday. (GP had made careful comment at how his manner was previously). After only 1 hr sleep managed to get there the appt went terribly. He was the most officious little creep I've ever come across.I was in such aggitation and distress but kept my temper but he was interrogating and not accepting my answers. He wouldn't let my husband help me either--at all. Talk about passive aggressive. Said he only deals with bowel probs and not if it's bowel endometriosis - - but I'm not saying that's what I have. What I know is my bowel is now not functioning-I've no movement to pass anything probs because they've left it that long. Ive still got NHS Gastro end of month. I'm pacing floor and that's all I do-inbetween pain. Can't think straight. GP calling tomorrow to see how it went. Immediate prob is no bowel function.
Have decided to leave off posting for a while. Everyone here been so good but can't keep telling of my medical probs and don't want to take and not give. I originally came on because of past experience with mistrust. While I can't say my present problems have helped that mistrust this is now more of a medical problem and I don't want to keep getting the 2 mixed up here. I'm not paranoid, I'm experiencing real medical problems but don't want to clog up the thread with those. Jusp giving update now.
I read your posts and think of you all as I've become attached to you all reading about your issues.
I don't know if the bowel issues are to do with the Gynae ones but my immediate prob is no motility feeling which is distressing.
Can't believe I'm on here discussing my personal bowel probs! It has to stop now.

Annie. Yes you are so right. I just want to wrap my family up and protect them from all hurt and harm. Same for most of us I suppose.
Oh dear, sometimes the electronics do seem out to get us.
I hope the work your internet company are doing doesn’t prove to cause too many interruptions for you and hopefully it might improve your service.
Your meals are a big problem aren’t they. That’s a lot of money for a jacket potato. It is so sad that there aren’t more facilities for people like you who don’t have full function of their hands. How do they expect you to cope.
I can’t remember my mobile number either. Could you get your brother or MT to print the number on a label and stick it on the back of the phone. That’s what I do as I can never remember it.
I wish your carer could come more often or spend time with you. It’s not surprising your two dogs mean so much to you. You must rely in their company so much.

How was aqua aerobics? Do you meet up for coffee after?
Yes I can understand you not wanting virtual instructors. People need to interact with others. I am tempted to say, what is the world coming to.
Your brother is like a lot of men. Not wanting to have anything to do with doctors. He’s lucky you are willing to help him.
Ellie Anne I know exactly how you feel. I hate letting my children down even if, like you, I have a valid excuse.
Could your DH look after your DGS while you are at the dentist or would he not be prepared to do that?

GSM what useful ideas. Sorry you too have problems with your hands. Those of us who don’t, don’t realise I’m sure how difficult life can be. Hope you are keeping ok.
Scaredycat I write copious notes about things as my, memory is dreadful. I have tried to memorise my phone number but can’t and if I need it quickly, all thought of the correct number goes out of my mind.
I wonder if this feeling of not wanting to upset anyone is something that is common with many of us on this thread.
I hate the thought of upsetting anyone especially my family. Others don’t seem to mind so much.
Yes I’m ok ish thank you. Still worried about some things but trying to avoid panics.
Going to church tomorrow hopefully so am pleased about that.

HVDY- I have to write things down too!! I do remember my mobile number now but it has taken years to get it imprinted in my pea brain!! Don’t think a virtual,Aerobics teacher would be much fun or easy- especially for those who maybe can’t see or hear so well.
Good luck with getting your brother an appointment- an alarm clock might come in handy for him!!
Annie- I do believe those Tec devils have moved in with you!! You have several good reasons to be cheesed off.
A sandwich toaster might be ok the one we have is very easy to use and the top lifts up and down . Maybe your GP could help with aids for you to use things. Is there any way you could use a microwave or would it take up too much space?
I,m so sad for your loneliness Annie - the unkindness you have experienced is astonishing. I hope you get to see MT soon she will be so excited to tell you all about her new job.

Well, my brother is having problems - he's got a hernia, has had it for a few years. It means that he gets trapped wind, which causes a lot of pain. I've been telling him for at least 2 years to see his GP and try to get a referral to a specialist at the hospital. Did he? No. I suggested that if he wants to get it dealt with quickly he should go private - he can more than afford it. Will he? No. He wants ME to ring his surgery tomorrow to get him an appointment (I live 8 miles away but have done so before) as it'll be a case of ringing at 8am, being in a queue, and waiting to speak to someone. He can't do that, he says, as he's not up at 8am! He's such an idiot really.

Hello all. I rarely post but keep up to date with everyone.

Annie, most of my fingers are badly bent, both thumbs and index fingers are reasonably straight, also my ring finger. So I can imagine your problems though I am lucky to be able to write albeit not neatly. I went to the fridge just now and spotted my tube of cream cheese. Would you fancy some of that on biscuits? Easy to open and close the tube and squirt some out. Also could you manage the top of an ordinary flask for soup rather than a food flask which has a much bigger top?

EllieAnne, what a shame about the timing of your dental appointment but it can’t be helped and I’m sure your son will understand the difficulty in getting another appointment. I think you must be a bit like me, I worry quite unnecessarily after saying something quite innocent to a loved one that they might have taken it the wrong way. May I say that I agreed with the advice to speak to your husband about a separation.

Sorry this is very quick but I keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. It was just prompted by the tube of cheese!

Oh Annie you sound so alone. Are your children and grandchildren far away? Have you friends locally?
Feel guilty today. My son txt to ask if I could look after grandson on Friday as his other Gran unwell. But I have an emergency dentist appointment which I had to grovel for and don’t feel able to cancel. Feel torn. Have said no but now worried I’ve upset him.

HVDY I am now stressed, just received text from company
with whom I hsve my internet, landline and mobile to say they
are working in the area for 7 days from the 5th and services may be interrupted !

How kind to suggest foods, unfortunately I only have use of
forefinger and thumb on both hands so can do little, seems i
will have to stay on liquid meal replacement, been on them over four years,GP said I have to eat solid food !

I am use to being without company since my darling daughter
died and my three children moved from here, people can be
thoughtless and even unkind about suicide.

One hour a day of seeing someone isn't enough, is it? Does AgeUK have any befriending schemes near to you? They have a 'phone line called Silverline, on 0800 4 708090 for people to ring. They might be able to help with some type of social interaction - by 'phone or in person, or perhaps online.

You kindly suggested soup for my food increase, I have to try
to eat solid food but it’s not possible, I can’t eat a jacket potato
at 10 in the morning, my carer would come back later in the
day but £15 to have a potato!
After your suggestion of soup I looked at food flasks on Amazon, couldn’t unscrew the lid !

Anniebach It's ironic that the technology that is meant to make like easier actually makes things so long-winded. It's massively frustrating. isn't it? I write things down - bank card details, mobile numbers, etc., and keep the notes where I know they're at hand - on my computer desk. It's not exactly cold here, but it's grey and still. Aqua Aerobics was good, but that might be changing - the leisure centre is going to try virtual classes so that people will follow a video. OK in theory, but the screen they've got is about the size of my tv! I'm lucky to be able to get to 4 local leisure centres (I pay £27 a month so that I can go to any, at any time) but 3 of them are now doing the virtual lessons. I much prefer to have an instructor. x

Anniebach you give such excellent advice to everyone on here and you're full of compassion. I wish I lived near to you, I'd be there to help you with your meals. Are your carers there today? A flask with soup?
There are 3 of us living here (Son1 could do his own laundry but he pays board and besides, I've got lots of time) then his 2 girls stay here every weekend. I don't iron bedding, but all our clothes need ironing. It's an ongoing chore x

one, if my grandchildren travel away from home I ask to be

home, I explain ‘fussy flossie’ wants to know they are safe . And
when they have troubles I think I loose more sleep than they do, we want to protect them from all hurt and harm don’t we?x

of depression etc because he has no understanding of this x

How's everyone's morning so far? I was up at 5.30 then 6.30, then eventually got up and stayed up at 7.15. I've put lots of washing (it's never-ending here) on the line and now I'm going to wash both cars whilst Him Indoors does some weeding.

Ellie Anne could you try taking some anti histamine tablets to help you sleep. I know they are for allergies but I think they are also used for sleep problems. Perhaps ask the pharmacy.
Waking in the early hours is not good for worrying. Do you listen to audio books or anything to take your mind off things.
Have you got space in your garden for a small summerhouse or something similar that you could call your own?
Ellie Anne you and Sweetpeasue are both very much a part of the BDG now. It is caring for others and their problems which unites us, because as Annie says we all have different problems but understand each other’s pain. X

Annie's message earlier really resonated with me. We all have different mental issues. But there's no degrees of pain. Everyone has their own suffering.

Sweet pea sue Pleasedont come off bd. Everyone is so kind and concerned. I don’t understand much about your medical problems but can still care. I’m ok. Have managed to be out a lot.
Having trouble sleeping. Waking up half four/five and can t get back to sleep.
I have a garden but it’s been a bit cold here and yesterday heavy rain.

Aaah *Mr Cooper looks so snuggly. How does he feel about having a foxy cushion though? ?

DoidleOf course I don't mind about you saying you including a prayer. I understand that many people pray and get comfort from that.

Mr Cooper is happy and well. He's on his favourite cushion. He has a cuddle every morning, and I wrap him up like a baby haha x
