He doesn't need to isolate. He should be testing regularly and I believe there is a specific day he should get a PCR.

Are these regular test LF ? Because they are not very reliable DH and I are self isolating at the moment with covid, we both took a lateral flow test both were negative next day took PCR tests both positive.

Personal I think everyone should isolate because they say that you can carry without knowing you are. But hey what do I know government says he doesn’t have to.

The mother with COVID should be isolating or if too ill, she should be seeing a doctor and may need to go to hospital.

How old are the children. if they are small there could be an issue of the children not being old to self-isolate by themselves. In which case the cousin should be in the house and isolating with the family.

DDiL and both DGC had COVID recently, the children without symptoms. They are aged 14 and 11 and the 14 year old is an excellent cook and simply took over running the house while her DM was incapacitated.

I don’t think the son is obliged to stay at home unless he tests positive. The rules on this have changed. When my GD had covid last month her parents continued to go to work but tested regularly.
The mother going in to help is another issue. Those with covid should isolate so no visitors should come.
