Lower left toothache when tapping tooth muscles twitch in neck

Munch if I were you, I would take a painkiller and contact my dentist on Monday. Pain is a funny thing, and focussing on it makes it worse.

I find that my teeth can be sore and sensitive for days after I've had dental work done. But then it settles down. I've not had muscles twitch on tapping.

You definitely need to contact your dentist asap. Something weird is happening and he/she is the person who will know what it is and what to do.

I get trouble with muscles and jaw after long dentistry treatments because you have to keep your head and mouth in one position.
Usually settles after a few days, but check with your dentist.

Munch I totally sympathise. I had excruciating pain in Feb 2020, a very similar presentation, but mine occurred randomly without root canal work. I also found it difficult to elicit which tooth was causing the problem and the pain radiated around the teeth, up over the eyes and down the neck. I’ve never experienced pain like it; similar to being plugged into an electric socket

I had x-rays and even an MRI scan (a possible diagnosis was made of trigeminal neuralgia). All investigations were clear, but the awful pain continued intermittently all last year. Eventually the dentist identified a cracked wisdom tooth which she removed 2 weeks before Christmas. Apparently cracked wisdom teeth (especially if hairline) don’t always show up on x-rays as the skin folds can hide problems.

It is very difficult to identify which tooth is the problem sometimes. Our dentist was excellent, and one of our best friends- but he did start root canal on the 'wrong' tooth once. And had to do both. He gave me a good discount, and apologised profusely, but it seems once inflammation and refered pain takes over, it is very difficult.

Once I also had terrible pain in upper teeth and went to see him- and he assured me it was sinus problems not tooth. I had a course of antibiotics as I did have a sinus infection.

Kali my OH suffers with sinus infections, and he always says "It makes my teeth hurt".

I’m not saying that it’s not a tooth but long after I’d had extensive dental treatment including removing a small (thank goodness) part of the jaw, a chiropractor told me that my neck problems could have caused all the pain in my tooth.
Dental pain is horrible and I hope yours gets sorted out quickly.
