NHS app - anyone else finding it a pain to set up?

No, not a pain. I took a photo of my passport and did the photo and four numbers check which took less than five minutes altogether. The approval came next day and I was able to check that my double vaccine status was recorded.

we haven't been able to set it up either and tbqh i am sick of this app business

I am not interested in downloading the app - one less thing to worry about ?

The video or photo with four numbers must be new, I set up the app a while ago and did not need to do that. But it certainly had several layers of security and was quite detailed but I found that reassuring. Waiting for clearance was frustrating because I am impatient and want instant gratification!

I downloaded it in case the info re vaccines becomes a passport for travel or entry to certain events.

TeacherAnn I set it up not too long ago about three weeks and it didn’t ask me for any of that either

I didn't need videos or photos at all. In fact it must have been very straight forward as I can hardly remember it at all.

I was registered on our gp's website previously - might that have helped?

How strange I didn’t need any photos or videos just a password etc the nirmal stuff

I did my passport and video-selfie number check on 30 June 2021 and received the notification that I had passed the checks on 1 July 2021. It sounds like NHS may have added some extra security checks since others applied or there are different routes to getting clearance. It was all very simple to do.

I have just checked my NHS App.

It now has an added Covid Pass which was not previously there,

It stalls when I get to the photo. If you manage to get it, apparently you have to contact the GP to have it verified, a friend told me that our surgery said that there was a four month wait for this! Given up now.

Inspired by this thread I have just downloaded the app .

Took two minutes to complete.
One code emailed , one code by text , one password set and straight in .

That’s it Notagran that’s all I did so why are some people having to go round the houses with photos videos passports etc etc ? Are they people who have moved or changed doctors recently or are they on a completely different app to us ??

It was a pain. DH and I have passports but they're out of date and we don't yet have photo driving licences, so we couldn't do the identity bit.

The alternative was to get some information from our GP, so we contacted the surgery. The manager knew nothing about the code we needed and told us to go to the help page on the website......which said to get the the code from your GP.

We gave up. My photo driving licence is on the way and we're aiming to renew out passports. Maybe then we can finish downloading the app.

I do get notifications of appointments etc by text and email already from DrDoctor . Perhaps that helps?

All I needed to do was input my name, date of birth and NHS number. Then set up a password.

Took less than 5 minutes. I have downloaded the proof of vaccinations to my files, so I do not have to go into the app if I am offline

We did this last week and our letter with details of jabs when what and where in a blue envelope arrived s couple of days later. No photos or videos involved as far as I know.

Well, I heard this morning that there was a problem with my photo ID so I have to do it again. Grr.

I had no problem with mine either - I think I must have downloaded it sometime ago. I still use Patient Access for appointments and prescriptions though.

I've had a lot of trouble using it. I thought it was just me being stupid.

I soon set it up some time ago now. No request for photograph or video ID.
No code needed from GP either.
