Like others, I started in my teens as simply everyone did, you’d have been the odd one out. I smoked then through two pregnancies (I was in hospital after having a miscarriage and was astounded that we could smoke while in bed, never mind anyone who didn’t smoke!).
I tried to give up several times, had hypnotherapy etc and finally when I was 38, I had a really bad chest infection and the cough frightened me enough to finally give up. I also didn’t want to pay £1 a packet which they were then! Thank goodness as I’ve got asthma and a dicky chest now and just really glad to be free of the tyranny of having to make sure you had the cigs, lighter etc. I don’t feel any better off though!
