When I was offered the shingles vacine I questioned whether it was necessary for me to have it as I had had shingles a few years previously. I was told that was all the more reason I should have it.

Well said! You reminded me; If I can learn to inject myself, and even was taught to take blood from Autistic people when I worked as a Psychologist on a molecular genetic study of Autism, then those people giving the injections will be fine!

Please, would someone explain why on earth anyone would hesitate to have the vaccine?

There are reputable firms and universities behind it, so why hesitate?

Tillybelle Where's your evidence that Bill Gates is involved in the Oxford lab? I have a close friend, a professor of biochemistry at another university, who contributed to the research. I'll ask him about Bill Gates, but I'd like to know how you claim he's involved.

I have the flu jab each year. Yesterday I had the Shingles one that is a one off. No side effects.. I shall certainly have the vaccine one also!

If a person doesn't take up the offer who do they think will want to nurse them if they should get corona virus?

The efficacy of vaccination is dependent upon a high take up by the population. I think that, unless a person has a condition which makes them unsuitable, having the vaccine is a matter of necessity to protect everyone. It will be a time to “stick our courage to the sticking post” and get on with it!

I’ve looked for the answer to this and can’t find it - does anyone know - the AZ vaccine was 90% effective with the one and a half dosage and only 60% effective with the two full doses. Although the number of subjects in the first group was about one third (2700) of those in the second group (8000+) the results for both groups were statistically significant. My question is - if we are offered the AZ one, will it be the more effective dose?

I come from a 'medical' family.

My daughter who is 29 has a friend who is immunocompromised. He is having to undergo two lots of chemotherapy this December and neither he nor his partner will be able to leave their house at all for months. If he catches Covid-19 - he has been told by medics - he will die. He cannot have the vaccine.

If others refuse to have the vaccine and herd immunity cannot be reached then young people (and older folks) like my daughter's friend will have their lives severely constricted.

It is worth considering cases like this when the risk to the general healthy population is small to negligible.

Well you clearly know nothing about statistics.

Yes! So will Mr Apple! We can't wait! And I cannot see any of us being asked which vaccine we would prefer - far too complicated - and any safe effective vaccine will free us to get back to something like normal. Bring it on.............!

I feel I will be having a vaccination. I do have heart disease and diabetic. My mum who is aged 89 is quite fit for her age albeit arthritis- osteoporosis but still mobile with a stick plus a diagnosis of mild dementia I feel should also have the vaccination.I am the eldest of 5 siblings. One of my brothers and one of my sisters who are both over 60 are against the vaccination. My younger brother also over 60 I am not sure what he thinks. However let’s say if they don’t have the vaccination chances are they will not be allowed into the football stadium (we are all Tottenham supporters lol ) My other sister also over 60 says she will have it as she wants to travel to New Zealand to see her grandchildren. I do believe also we will have to have some form of documentation/ stamped passport to confirm we have had a vaccination as there may be some venues that will require this information / or for travelling abroad etc.

I read how people lived before many deadly viruses- people really did have it tough! So many people and children dropping down dead - but then vaccinations appeared and people’s lives greatly improved.
